THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE MATRIX AND TSUKIHIME

Agent Smith

From the Matrix, Agent Smith is an AI programmed to maintain order and punish disorder in the fictional reality of the Matrix. Though he first appears very business-like and focused on pragmatism, Smith becomes significantly more individualistic than other Agents, exhibiting emotions such as sadism, rage, and sense of purpose.

Smith has the ability to overtake any virtual human body in the Matrix. He can manipulate the Matrix to grant himself speed and strength beyond the capabilities of other humans; he can dodge bullets, punch through concrete, and jump large distances. Smith’s weapon of choice is a Desert Eagle handgun.

VERSUS

Nrvnqsr Chaos

Nrvnqsr Chaos is an antagonist from Tsukihime. A vampire, Nrvnqsr is a living mass of chaotic matter, composed of himself and 666 other creatures. These creatures range from common animals like dogs to fantastic beasts such as unicorns. Nrvnqsr is capable of manifesting into any of the 666 beasts at a moment’s notice, though sometimes he cannot control the specific form they take. Nrvnqsr’s ultimate technique, the Soil of Genesis, requires firepower capable of destroying an entire continent to defeat.

Smith shouldn't be able to deal with Soil of Genesis, right?

I'm not sure why Smith couldn't just do his copy thing over each of the 666 beasts one by one.

Since I believe the reason you can't defeat the guy without continent destroying power is because you have to beat all of the beasts at once or they regenerate. Copying himself over the beasts seems like a strange alternate way to defeat them that I'm not sure they'd be able to "regenerate" from.

Doesn't Smith need humans in order to make copies of himself?

Although... can he just infect the beasts?

It's pretty vague. I'm going to assume he can because I assumed the target only needed to be living for him to do it-- no real reason to assume otherwise. The thing that's giving me pause is if there's a reason to assume the beast's regeneration will work against Smith's replication thing or if there's some reason they'd be able to resist it well.

Hmm... I guess if they're infected, the regen slows down, at least.

i'm.... not sure how much they count as living exactly. Shiki being able to kill 'em doesn't say anything as the dude was killing zombies for a bit there. they aren't alive in the traditional sense - remember that Chaos as a whole is a giant reality marble encased in a body. effectively it's an entirely different world inside him and that's where his beasts reside, after he killed and/or absorbed them basically. their 'regeneration' isn't exactly them doing it in the traditional way either because any one of them can result in the rest 'regenerating' for that same reason. you can think of it as anytime they die they will always come back to the 'world' they're from. to that end, trying to do a take over would.... kinda make me think that they could also be forced back into it and possibly override said takeover as it's going back to a giant mass of blob. though that also brings up the other question of whether or not smith would still have his connection to 'em. if he did then things would get really weird as there's no individual sentient being inside. he's got some immortal and legendary beasts that should have high intelligence in there, so it'd be really strange of a scenario and absorption vs. absorption.

still, that's also really the only thing Smith has going for him. if he can't absorb/take over the beasts then he's pretty much screwed, can't kill the guy. i'm not sure Smith can even deal with the beasts that well either, or at least the high end ones. soil's a gimme for Chaos if he gets him, but that'd again gets us to absorption stuff.

...Initially thought Chaos thanks to the regen and tons of targets, and Smith kinda lacking AoE. But thinking on it, I don't see why he can't overwrite the individual beasts, which seems like an effective way to not only work around them regening but giving him more numbers to fight with.

Being an absorber seems to work well against Soil of Genesis too, since if it can be brute forced out of, I don't see why overwriting at least partially won't give it some troubles.

Granted, even aside from that, just to nip this in the bud: What is the context on Soil of Genesis requiring "continent destroying power" to physically beat? It seems vague because I highly doubt it's been beaten out by shown attacks that literally target and utterly destroy entire continents so much as work on a much smaller scale, but are really powerful and focused. The heck's the basis for it? Breaking ground isn't all that hard, and breaking more ground just means doing that same (relatively) unimpressive feat but over a larger area.

I think a horde of Smiths could deal with the high end ones easily, so if he bolstered his numbers on the lesser ones first it wouldn't be tough, and he's probably fast enough to do it. I'd also think they're living because the name soil of genesis is like... screaming "alive" to me.

The reabsorption thing could be interpreted in a few ways. One is that they don't reabsorb because Smith doesn't technically kill them, so they don't hit that step where they'd reabsorb. Another is that Smith wrenches control of them and they aren't able to reabsorb. Another is that they reabsorb still under Smith's control and Smith is able to do a Matrix Revolutions Neo against nrvnqsr from in there. Another is that the guy takes them back and takes control back.

If there's no real evidence either way I personally like one of the first two theories.

I wouldn't see absorbing as instantly returning them to that world either. Smith in the Matrix can overwrite and absorb anyone without killing them (he does it to literally the entire human race, and agents commonly do it to any human as well), and not only that, but he can also transfer between worlds by overwriting one.

He does that to Bane, allowing him to freely control someone who isn't even connected to the Matrix in the real world, while still inhabiting the Matrix itself and doing all his actions there.

If he gets any overwriting in, which should be fairly easy because there's a lot of targets and they aren't all quite that great and seem to favor melee, he builds a force to deal with things physically (and overwrite more), in addition to possibly tearing Chaos apart from inside out by taking control of the beings within his world. Unless he has some really odd powers to deal with it, they shouldn't be able to just get rid of Smith's code given it can carry on specifically into the real world in a real human while they're not connected to the Matrix, and is noted as something special to him (other Agents can't do it).

Ah that's a good point about Bane. I'd forgotten about that. Pretty relevant here. So I don't see any real reason as to why nrvnqsr would get control back even if they were reabsorbed, which I'm still iffy on.

Going Agent Smith here for now.

Both characters have some weird immunities to actually being hurt/destroyed. But I think there's a stronger possibility for Smith actually eventually taking Chaos down then the other way around given how each of them exists.

neutral terrain makes me not understand how this fight works.

What is neutral for agent smith? In the matrix he is a god, outside of it he's nothing.

I'll say smith, but only because a fight with him cannot happen on neutral terrain. You can't beat him without going to his world , and once there, he'll infect you. If you avoid him, well he wins by default.
