In the 90s, I remember my friends and I thinking they were awesome, and tons of young men wore them. Both Jordan and Pippen sported earrings (just on the left ear though, cuz apparently wearing on the right turned you gay), which enticed me to think earrings on dudes were the coolest things ever, and I'd sometimes pester my parents for one.

Now, I hardly ever see them unless sported by a punker or something.

Earrings were essentially replaced by Plugs in the early 2000s as the Punk revival came about as well as the Emo, Scene, and other such subcultures emerged.
