There will be spoilers for DC Comics and Full Metal Alchemist in this topic.
From Full Metal Alchemist, Edward Elric is a young though powerful alchemist. Ed is compactly muscular and agile, and though his right arm and left leg are made of automail, his combat prowess is improved by this, as he can use alchemy to turn his arm into blades. He is able to think quickly, even in desperate situations.
Unlike most alchemists, Edward can perform alchemy without the use of a transmutation circle, which gives him more flexibility and freedom with his powers; he can activate his powers simply by clapping his hands. He is adept at changing substances from one thing to another quickly, such as changing water into ethanol, and can transmute the elements of an enemy's body to injure him or her in battle. In the manga, this knowledge is great enough to save his own life, as he heals a would-be fatal wound.
Versus
Larfleeze is the only Orange Lantern and wields the full power of the Orange Lantern Corps, whose power is avarice (greed). The Guardians came to an agreement that Larfleeze would take a part of the universe for himself in exchange of leaving them alone. He's shown to be able to take a combined assault of the guardians, and has constructs of those he's defeated, stealing their identities. Wielding a power ring he also has the standard assortment of powers, including flight, force fields, and light constructs. Though he's one of the strongest beings of DC, he's also greedy and whismical to a fault.
The battlefield will be true neutral, which is whatever you want to make it in your mind as long as it grants no upperhand for either fighter.
Please remember that the write-ups are merely summations of a character. They will not usually tell the complete and detailed story of a fighter. Keep an open mind if someone brings evidence to the table for or against someone, as the stated goal is to determine who wins in a fight and not who is your personal favorite. Thanks and have fun.

Though that probably just makes Larfreeze want to try and make Edward his.
Larfleeze makes people 'his' though by killing them and stealing their identities for his constructs.
I honestly don't think Edward stands a chance here. He has to deal with Larfleeze as well as the "Orange Lantern Corps" that Larfleeze summons. Edward's ability to transmute matter relies on him being able to touch Larfleeze, and who even knows if that's going to happen.
honestly, doubt the ring can even be transmuted anyway. it's made of... what, orange lantern power or something. not really the most manmade substance and doubt anything useful there exists anyway.
but the mental image of larfleeze forcing ed to make mountains of gold is entertaining. ed will eventually tire though. larfleeze won't.

Oh yeah, because it wasn't actually mentioned in the writeup, Larfleeze generally tends to summon the forms of people he's killed in the past to fight for him as semi-autonomous Orange light constructs, which he refers to as his "corps." So it's not like saying Hal Jordan could just call for backup from the rest of the GLC - this is something that Larfleeze himself can do with his ring and lantern. He tends to summon multiple "members" during fights and in addition can fight with standard Lantern constructs. So Ed is going to immediately have his hands full fighting off the other corps members, and while they can be hurt by physical objects I don't think they could be transmuted since they're made of light. If they "die", Larfleeze can just resummon them.
Honestly I can't see Ed doing much unless he makes a bargain with Larfleeze for victory, but I don't see him having anything to offer Larfleeze that wouldn't just result in Larfleeze enslaving Ed.
They go from the GLC legitimately struggling to defeat them in the Agent Orange storyline to Hal easily bursting them later on (although this is probably a combination of Larfleeze's new "joke character" status + Hal's power level + Larfleeze never really goes all-out again like he does in Agent Orange).
Ability wise I am not so sure if they keep their powers after they're absorbed. The two guys he uses most often are the ones that just try to eat whoever he's fighting against at the time.
damn. i have to catch up as i've been out the loop for 3 weeks now, but yeah i was trying to remember exactly what they were able to do. transmutation would require knowledge at least, but i don't think that's a problem. just thinking for later matches how big a deal that can be.
and i'd really honestly sooner associate it to Hal just becoming beasty as all hell until he got yoinked. the dude was able to kill a guardian. that speaks volumes to how insanely powerful he was getting.
