Can't you make up a ****ty excuse to not be forced to do it?

Like make up a story about why you'd be biased for that particular case or something.

No, no, no. They know the racist trick, now, and won't fall for it.

You have to, without overdoing it, make it sound like you're predispositioned to side with the police.

Or you could just do it and it might be interesting.

I don't get why so many people are so loathe to do jury duty that they try to lie their way out of it.

It's not that bad, you get paid for it, it's civic duty, and you most likely won't be picked to be on a trial anyway.

If you have a legitimate reason why you can't make it they let you reschedule.

And I'm sure they've seen overly fake racism plenty of times before and don't buy it.

I've always wanted to do it, though I have a feeling it's as romanticized as like...James Bond or something. Working for MI6 isn't THAT exciting, and the case I do will probably be open-and-shut.

I'm actually on a case right now and it actually is very interesting. Only thing is my work doesn't pay for the days i miss so i'm not getting any real income while on jury duty which sucks.

As for if you really want to get out of a case, one guy said that he would never go against his morals even if they agree 1 to 1 with how the law is written and thus would be biased towards them. He got the collective groans from everyone but he stuck with it and got dismissed because of it so i guess if you want to be "that guy" that is how you do it.

I'm sure it depends on the case, but the case I had to go to was definitely interesting. It was a murder case.

You get paid next to nothing for it and unless you are unemployed or a student chances are you would have made more going to your real job that day.

Jury Duty is one of those things I wish I was selected for but has yet to happen to me. I kind of want to know why everyone hates it lol.

If your work won't pay you for the jury duty days and you can't afford to miss that work, that's a legitimate reason to get out of it and they'll probably let you.

Only in cases of extreme financial burden. You would need to be the sole provider of a family of 5 and be at risk of missing mortgage payments for it to be a legit excuse in the eyes of the court.

You were not sure why so many people loathe jury duty. In short it is because it is a long boring day that costs people money. You get to drive downtown pay to park then spend all day hoping you dont get selected and when its all done you get paid like 30 bucks.

See, I view that as an excuse to spend a day downtown, and at least here where I live most people get excused to go home well before 5, sometimes even before lunch.

And then you're off the selection books for a year.
