Occupy Eugene continues to justify its existence and special “exempt from the rules that normally apply to regular homeless people” treatment by claiming that they’re somehow engaging in community service. That they’re offering the homeless a safe and comfortable environment.
Unfortunately for them, the local paper decided to engage in some journalism and ask some actual homeless people. Surprise surprise, they’d prefer to go to a “warming center” that just so happens to be located at a church.
his point is pretty obvious, that this occupy movement claimed it was doing some sort of community service, but it really isn't.
I don't think it's a huge deal, but this is one smartmuffin topic that isn't completely ridiculous or anything, no need to act oblivious, unless you just really are that dumb.

Does the church have enough resources to accept everyone? If not, Occupy Eugene is providing a lower quality version to those who the church don't have the resources to help.

As I said originally, the main point was actually to provide an archive of my arguments, relevant links, etc. The current system of making topics with great arguments that purge after a few days wasn't working, because inevitably some newbie shows up and is like "LOL SMARTMUFFIN HERES SOME LAME COMMUNIST ARGUMENT THAT TOTALLY PROVES YOU WRONG AND THAT IM SURE YOU NEVER THOUGHT OF AND YOU WONT EVEN RESPOND TO IT" when the truth is that I've already responded to it multiple times.
Now I can just point them to a link, rather than having to duplicate my efforts!

This. Except it isn't quite as simple as "they're making a false claim." The false claim is pretty much their entire justification for existing. This same newspaper has run article after article about how they're supposedly helping the homeless, and the occupy scum have showed up to a bunch of city council meetings citing their help of the homeless as why they deserve to continue to be exempted from the rules of the city.
Until now, nobody really asked the homeless. If the homeless are of the opinion that the occupy camp isn't doing them any good, all of a sudden, their entire justification for being allowed to stay is now gone.

This is a somewhat legitimate point, although keep in mind that the Occupy people are occupying a park where homeless people used to stay in small groups (of course they weren't allowed to set up tents and actually camp) prior to occupy being there. The article leads me to believe that some of the homeless would rather be out completely on their own than at the occupy camp. If true, this basically means that not only is the occupy camp inferior to the church, but that they actually took space away from the homeless.
