don't worry about this version. the AH stuff isn't in this game. you can play this 100% like you did in the older games it looks like, however you also *can* choose to do evasive manuevers, both for offense and defense. it speeds things up when you're trying to get a bastard who keeps flying away/flying around in circles to avoid a missile. but that's up to you. have done a couple missions with little use of it, even though the game tells you. you can't really spam it exactly, and it works damn well in this game.

if you're familiar with Sky Crawlers, they took the mechanics from that game. if you aren't, it's basically Ace Combat Wii (AC devs themselves made it). so think more like ACX than AC:AH.

joint assault was different because were you very, very slow. feel free to take your time to just shoot things with your machine guns. missiles are pretty overpowered there too as they'll damn near one shot everything and you get access to some awesome ones like 5 minutes into the game.

this one's not as fast as some of the main series' games, but not slow either. it's a nice pace they got.

and just so you know on this one, two things.

1) the 3D is really, really good. takes a bit of time to adjust some screens, but the gameplay of it? top notch. really brings out a lot, ditto for the few cutscenes it has (the intro vid is so good). it's great to be flying under bridges again, but it's just more... fun with the 3d.

2) dog fights are awesome. things are fast enough, the manuevers are very, very useful when you're doing 8 on 1. not necessary! just useful. and keeps things nice and tense instead of 'augh need to circle for 5 minutes to get them off me.' like i'm still early but i think i like this method best. totally optional, but very, very good as well. best of both worlds.


it's 100% an ace combat game.
