maybe it is just because I have been robbed at gunpoint before, but if you are in a situation where someone pulls a gun on you unexpectedly, your reaction is not going to be going all jack bauer on him unless you have military training or something that would make you more calm in that sort of situation...for your every day person, you are just going to be terrified. and if everyone is carrying a gun, when a guy like this goes crazy and shoots people, do you really rely on everyone else knowing who is the good guys shooting at the bad guys and who is the bad guys? thats why we have police.

Yeah, the people saying it doesn't happen are crazy. I recall seeing overall statistics, and they weren't all that rosy for the pro-gun side. Something like...when people keep a gun near their bed, it's more likely that a burglar will kill them with that gun than they will stop a burglary with that gun. But to say it never happens: no--of course it happens.
I will note that the second video you linked, the guy literally says "I don't recommend the average citizen try this. I have military and police training". The first video, the guy also had military training. The other two didn't say. So...for instance, I don't think it would do me a lick of good to own a gun, personally.

Murder aside, guns protect the rest of our rights. What happens if we lose all of gun rights? What's to stop us from losing other rights? The constitution is the ultimate law of the land and needs to be treated as such.

And one huge problem I have with society as a whole, or mankind in general I guess, is the need to control everything. We can never control everything. **** happens. The only way gun control would ever work is if every gun ever made were suddenly destroyed and we had no knowledge of guns. Except then, we'd be back to using swords and bows.

Medieval warfare was awesome though. The Hundred Years War ruined everything, because I believe that's when guns were first invented.
And cowards even back then felt that the population not having weapons would magically cause all violence to go away, because people are pretty much idiots.
