My computers batteries died without warning me (i guess it was low when i opened it, i just closed it last night.

Its not in the recent documents or whawtever its called thing

usually when you go to openword itll be in the sidebar, or just open it for you if word shut down improperly.

Also, after a brief chat with my brother the IT guy, yeah the trial version of word is a lite version that doesnt autosave unless you tell it to in the settings to save the amount of processing power it takes to run.

Oh I procrastinate like nobody's business, but when the chips are down, a 5 page paper that I've already done and am retyping should only take 2 hours, 3 tops.

This reminds me of one of my favorite jokes.

Jesus and Satan have a discussion as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God as the judge.

They sit themselves at their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen, for several hours straight. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over.

He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, "I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out."

"Very well, then," says God, "let us see if Jesus fared any better."

Jesus enters a command, and the screen comes to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers. Satan is astonished.

He stutters, "B-b-but how? I lost everything, yet Jesus' program is intact. How did he do it?"

Even if the thing gave you no warning, it should've forced a hibernation at like 5%, so you just plug it in and load everything back up no problem.

Seriously there are probably like 5 levels of countermeasures to prevent losing documents like this, the fact that you still managed to lose it is really embarrassing for a fully grown adult who has what I am assuming is a good deal of computer experience considering how long you've been on this board. I can't say this level of incompetence is surprising from a politician though.

it usually does go into hibernation, not shutting down. I'm really not sure why it did that. Like I said, my best guess is I was using it as i laid in bed late last night, too lazy to get the charger so I just used it until the battery was about to die than shut it. I guess that circumvented the usual hibernation procedure but I don't know.

I had no idea the trial version of word didn't save automatically.

I guess I should be saving more often, but thats really the only thing you can make fun of me for.
