Message From PartOfYourWorld on 11/02/2011 Quick question that some people on Board 8 are wondering: will you be accepting Pokemon Trainer Red/Blue pictures that showcase actual Pokemon (such as Charizard and Blastoise) beside/behind the trainers?
Message From GameFAQs on 11/02/2011 Sure, as long as they're appropriate to the characters.
Makes sense to me. I don't think anyone would take exception to a Mario pic that includes FLUDD or the Luma that follows him around in Galaxy. Same deal. Hell, I know for a fact at least one Samus pic has a Metroid in it, and that's not even part of her... powerset, if you will.
...The bigger issue is, IIRC, there's nothing to suggest Blue in the games even owns a Blastoise. >_>

Ok, maybe he didn't complete his Pokedex, but he looked all over for the most powerful Pokemon! So, I think it' safe to assume he used a Blastoise at one point, and therefore owns one.
He is guaranteed to have one anyway if you choose Charmander.
Yeah, but is there any reason to believe that's the "canon" choice? I'd be much more inclined to believe Yellow is canon, which means Red gets all three starters and Pikachu (which matches up with his team in GSC/HGSS) and Blue doesn't get any of them.
Like, I don't actually have an issue with it, and in fact support pics with Charizard/Blastoise (because they'll help my bracket <_<), it's just sort of weird to see everyone immediately jumping on Blastoise as Blue's signature Pokemon when he only has it part of the time in RBY/FRLG, and doesn't have it at all in GSC/HGSS.
...Actually, if Red vs. Blue makes it to matches with rotating pictures, it would be really cool to give them three or four otherwise identical pics with only the starter combinations changed.

you know what would be awesome To have the Pokémon evolve each round. Start off with Charmander/Squirtle R1, Ivy/Wartortle R2 and Charizard/Blastoise R3.
Pokemon Adventures had the best forms of Red and Blue Of course Blue was technically Green, and Green was Blue in Japan, and she was a chick. Conundrum!
Lets just stick to the games.

Nice catch BlAcK TuRtLe. But too bad your ass got SAAAAAAAAAAACKED.*tackles*
I don't see why they wouldn't be allowed. The starter pokemon (and their evolved forms) are a large part of the trainers relationship in the games. Especially considering this is a Rivalry Rumble, the whole "Blue picks the starter that has the type advantage over Red" is highly representative of the Rivalry, heck you could even say it's the biggest factor in this regard.
