You wanted it bro, here it is. In multiple parts, because it is way more than one thing.

So, In North American Wrestling History, (non WWWF/WWF/WWE) there is only one absolute supreme anticipated match. It far overshadows every other march not from that organization in New York. I think everyone who hates Hogan knows where I am going with this.

Starrcade 1997 (C) "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan vs Sting.

Built up for 15 months. The NWO ran rough shod over the rest of WCW, leaving little in their wake, yet constantly, a man in the shadows, in the rafters, he kept watch. He got involved when need be, and he had one man in his sights. Hollywood Hogan. It's been 14 years now, I think we can finally all agree Starrcade 97 sucked, even before the Main Event, but it was booked right at least. WCW took apart the NWO that night, even regaining power and control over the company, and leading up to one of the most anticipated matches ever, it was time for the finishing touches. Sting was about to beat Hogan for the Title, ending the NWO for good. Now, some genius at WCW thought cashing in on the Montreal Screwjob was a better idea (it wasn't, but entire books can be written about WCW misuse of Bret). And therefore instead of just having Bret win cleanly 123, they were booked to have shenanigans first. They booked Hogan to beat Bret with a fastcount from ref Nick Patrick, and then Bret to come out and restart the match as he was done watching people get screwed. At which time Sting would use that advantage to finish off Hogan without Hogan having a chance (way to cheapen the victory bookers). That was the plan, that was stupid, what happened was of course worse (this piece of scum was involved, how could it not be worse).

Hogan allegedly paid Nick Patrick 100,000 to not do a fast count, so it is obvious to any one watching, that Hogan, Hogan beat Sting clean. Of course Patrick did this, and Hogan buried a 1`5 month long build for his own ego. (WCW did the rest of the burying in the 3 weeks following, striping Sting of the title, and changing the String Hogan feud).

**** YOU HOGAN!!!!!!!!!

There will be more.

For Sting, the day Hulk Hogan pinned him was the most important day of his life. But for Hulk Hogan, it was Sunday.

You could fill a whole chapter of a book with deplorable crap Hogan did.

In fact, in the book Wrestlecrap, a whole chapter is devoted to Hogan's garbage.

Uhh... New York Wrestling Connection? I know a lot of people would like to see The Big O vs Zack Ryder but I don't think it's quite on THAT level.

One of the most controversial decisions Nick was ever involved in happened at Starrcade 1997. The match, with months of buildup, was Hollywood Hogan vs. Sting. As the story goes, Bret Hart, fresh off of leaving the WWF after being "screwed" by a referee, was at ringside for the bout. After a Hulk legdrop, Patrick was supposed to make a fast three count on Sting, allowing Bret to save the day. But when the end came, Nick didn't count fast. He counted at regular speed so that Hulk's pin appeared legitimate and Bret's complaining seemed out of place. The event had been clouded with speculation for years. Had Patrick been told to screw over Sting? Was it an honest mistake or were there politics at play? James Guttman asks it straight and Nick tells it all to ClubWWI.com listeners.

"I believe what had happened was that I got conflicting stories about what they wanted me to do. I had one faction telling me they wanted one thing from me. I had another faction telling me they wanted another thing from me. So I kind of split it down the middle. Now I remember exactly the scenario. So that’s what happened out of that deal."

So even referee Nick Patrick admits that SOMEONE told him not to count fast.
