i stopped going to b8chat not because it's cliqueish or hivemind-oriented (f*** that s***, i wouldn't have visited in the first place had it been like that) but because real life kinda took precedent

that said, there are a good number of regulars in the chat i'd be happy never to interact with again, but i guess that just means i agree with icon

if your point is that i'm 'burying my head in the sand' because i'm not acknowledging that there are bad users who frequent b8c, you're wrong, because i have. several times. including my post you're responding to, as well as posts 8, 50, 86, and 93 -- over half my posts in this topic feature me condemning actions of people in b8chat, admitting that there are bad users in b8chat, or saying that not everyone in b8chat gets along.

if your point is that i'm 'burying my head in the sand' because i won't admit b8chat is a hiveminded clique, again, that's irrelevant, because that would be an entirely new point that you're making in this post and one i have addressed before.

i did not say everyone against me is not remembering properly. i said one person, yoblazer, is either not remembering the 'f**' incident properly, or misrepresenting it entirely. the way he's telling the story implies that every member or nearly every member of b8chat was in on it, and i can assure you that is not the case.

and it's not a case of four or five people against me. there are three users (lefty, yo, and Cly) calling it a hiveminded clique without ever expanding on their accusation, while eight users (myself, Leonhart, ctes, XiC, RPG, Cyclo, Giggs, and Mer) have said that it's not while admitting that it's not perfect

Wow, people are saying b8c is a clique hivemind? I've been a regular since day one, and while there are obviously some folks that can agree with each other on certain things, most of us have our own opinions. That's what keeps the chat going. Who'd want to frequent a chat where everyone follows each other? If you feel that way, then your problem is probably something closer related to yourself than with the chat. Honestly, there's nothing to follow.

b8c isn't a place where people go to talk s***, it's a place where people go to chill, socialize, or waste time. Music, sports, media, life...the works. But like anywhere, there's bound to be quarrels and squabbling. All that said, conversation usually doesn't trend towards anyone in a negative way (with a few exceptions, admittedly). Personally, I think b8c has more "real" people per capita than the board does. There's no one there that's a regular that I don't like. Just good people, man.

I will admit I go and talk **** from time to time. But every user is guilty of that, sometimes the user being crapped on is even IN the chat at the time.

And the only time there was any sort of "hivemind" mentality was during UotY when it wasn't even really everyone mindlessly voting for individuals but people genuinely liking other users more and rallying people for those individuals. Other than that it's like 4 or 5 users at most out of the ~20 or so that are always in there just deciding to be jerks and troll the hell out of someone. Even that doesn't happen very often, and when it does the rest of us tend to not even give a damn about that crap and just chilling, socializing and whatnot.

b8c is good people, for the most part. Just like the board itself there are a few bad eggs, but it's definitely a much more relaxed/chill place than the board itself. Like Lockes said, the people in the chat are just more real, and all come from different circles around the board which keeps things fresh and allows for lots of meshing of different ideas and viewpoints.

The problem with the word "clique" is that it implies "members" of it put in an effort to shun people who aren't part of their exclusive little group. Perhaps this does happen on the board, but I can't say I've ever seen it. The word "group" would work a lot better.

That said, my cat was able to fight off a raccoon once (to be fair my cat was also 20lbs of muscle and bigger than most small dogs.)

We aren't a hivemind and I've definitely gotten into a few feuds in there with Sess, Bio and sometimes even Realo (whom I like). Icon's right on the ball when he's saying it's only a few people that feel the need to **** on a lot of stuff.
