Why would you have to restrain yourself? Would you make fun of someone that had just lost a pet in real life to their face?
I'm not going to comment on the rest. It's pretty obvious that the internet is a cesspool for people with serious psychological and personal issues to validate themselves or make themselves feel better by insulting and/or making others feel bad about themselves (apparently it's funny?)
That said, my cat was able to fight off a raccoon once (to be fair my cat was also 20lbs of muscle and bigger than most small dogs.)
