Yeah, Queen of Cards is pretty terrible, but you can get all of the rare cards without having to do that stupid sidequest as long as you complete the CC Club sidequest before the end of Disc 3.

If you have enough patience, you can actually get all the horrible rules abolished from the entire game. I did a playthrough of VIII specifically devoted to mastering the card game.

I used to play through 4-10 roughly once a year, it's been a good while since then though. Might start up 8 tonight, who knows.
