for now this is just an announcement topic but I may play some later tonight or probably tomorrow and this may turn into a playthrough topic. this will be my third current gen RPG, after Blue Dragon and FFXIII. I'm expecting something better than both of those!

You should get Vesperia though, as it's the best jrpg of the generation.

It's weird. FFX is one of my favorite games, and Lost Odyssey seems like FFX with added features, but I just couldn't get into it at all. Still stuck on Disc 3.

Lost Odyssey isn't very "exciting," but it has a reserved atmosphere that I really enjoyed. It isn't for everyone, but the Dreams elevate it several tiers above FFXIII and Blue Dragon, and the gameplay is a mostly classic turn-based battle system. Some people won't like that, but it's a rare combination to have production values + turn-based battle systems in this day and age, so I really got into it.

This. Some of them are deeply compelling and very sad, some of them form a bit of an arc. If you don't mind the "distraction" from the main quest, they're really quite good.

As against that, I never bothered to finish the game, and instead traded it in for Pogs. Or store credit. I forget which.
