lol idea, my wii pretty much exists solely for gamecube games and virtual console, I probably won't even have a wii disc in it until skyward sword comes out
Yeah, it's been in Europe for a little while, and I think originally they said they weren't even going to release this in America but they changed their minds.

From: PrinceKaro | #008 Why the f*** would anyone choose not to have one with backwards compatibility when it costs the same as a regular Wii?
Probably because they wouldn't know. I don't think either SKU's box makes mention of backwards compatibility (at least not in big bold letters). I'm having a tougher time understanding why Nintendo is still bothering to sell the old SKU in the first place. If you're going to be dicks and phase out the BC, then phase it out. I have my doubts as to whether they really are still manufacturing the old SKU. They could just be clearing all remaining inventory.

From: KingButz | #010 Downloadable Gamecube games? So you can fit like 5 of them in the Wii U storage space. Awesome.
Have we heard anything concrete about WiiU's storage? They've gotta pack in SOMETHING decent. The next Microsoft/Sony consoles will pack, what, 1 TB? More?

Nintendo usually plans for each gen by taking anything more popular than it and locks onto the worst thing that system did.
N64: Relied on cartridges and had space for add-ons, like the Genesis Gamecube: Memory cards with stupidly low capacity, like the PS1 Wii: Doesn't put much into graphical power, like the PS2
