Replaying this game for the first time in a long time, and I can't get Rattly's super move working. He coils up and everything, but he just won't jump higher than normal. What am I doing wrong?

I ask here because I know how many of you are into this game!

After jumping on the first set of bees, jump down and you'll fall on the parrot barrel

Unfortunately, that's not gonna work. According to the online walkthrough I saw, I need to get quite a ways further in the level than I'm able to because the super move is broken. Is it some problem with the emulator, I wonder? It'll still charge up, but the jump is the same height as usual.

Are you sure you're charging it long enough?

yep! Went back to an earlier level, and was charging it all day long.

It's the same input as charging with Rambi and Enguarde. Can you get those to work?

I've played DKC2 via emulator (Note: I own two physical copies of the game), and I've never had a problem with not getting Rattly's super jump to work. Not sure what the problem is there.
