I wonder what the reasoning for this was.

I'm assuming it had something to do with the difficulty of getting a conventional camera into certain tight places or very low to the ground, but I can't think of any shots from the trailer that fit the bill.

I know Crank 2 used a bunch of fairly inexpensive digital cameras, so they could do all sorts of zany shots. I forget the specifics, but stuff like throwing a camera off a building and such.

But it sounds more like scenes where he decided to use his Camera in addition to the more expensive ones, and ended up using that footage.
