Bear in mind that I think the 30-40 year reign was absolutely terrible and should have ended years ago, but if a 69 year old man surrenders in battle, should he really be shot just because of his profile? Suddam Hussain was brought to justice in an open court, why wasn't the same practiced here?

I'm sure revolutionaries are gonna be charged with more emotion than your American soldier in a foreign country.

They probably hate him way more than any American soldier can hate a guy that wasn't even directly responsible for really doing anything to them.

It was throngs of undisciplined people (and I don't mean this in a negative way) in which there was basically no way to protect him against a particularly hyped or incensed person who decided they'd take the shot themselves. Of course it was disgraceful and was likely effectively an execution, but I don't really know that I blame the NTC as a whole for it.

While ultimately I think it's better that he died.

I think the idea of them capturing him than killing him was unnecessary and in hindsight makes them look no better than he is. That video was completely brutal and made everyone there seem like just straight up monsters.
