I decided that over thanksgiving I want to start this series and want to see how long it'll take me to get to 3.

Uncharted 1 is p. short

Uncharted 2 is of an OK length, pretty long by the standards of the modern adventure game (much longer than, say, Tomb Raider Legend or Underworld)

UC1 felt longer than UC2 to me, but maybe that's because it was harder to me.

But they're not long games. I don't think either one is more than 20-ish hours...?

UC1 was definitely tougher, but it was still quite a bit shorter. Granted, both are lengthened depending on how much exploring/treasure hunting you do.

1 is about 5-7 hours long, 2 is about 10-12. Both are excellent games regardless of length.

Note that playing 2 immediately after 1 will make it a cakewalk in terms of difficulty.

same thing for me. I had my difficulties with UC1 (more puzzles maybe?) and with UC2 (beated it for the first time on Sunday) I knew exactly what to look for in terms of where to jump and strategy for AI

I think Uncharted 2 took me around 14 or 15 hours, I dunno.

Uncharted 2 is way better than 1 BTW.

Play Xenogears

UC1 takes a lot longer on the hardest difficulty because it's kind of poorly made, and there are a lot of situations where you have like no cover, trial and error, etc.

Are you talking about the hardest difficulty available without already beating the game or Crushing?

Hard difficulty isn't all the difficult, definitely quite doable. Crushing is just complete bulls***, though, imo at least. >_>

(i ask because, well, crushing difficulty probably isn't going to be very relevant to someone trying to play through both the games over thanksgiving break)

And you can definitely make at least Uncharted 1 a LOT longer by going for all the treasures and all the medals, as well as trying to complete Crushing difficulty.

UC1 on Crushing is fine. It's a tougher game regardless of which difficulty you choose, though. The enemies are more evasive, and come at you more aggressively than UC2.

As for length, they're both I'm the 7-12 hour range. Definitely worth playing -- two of the best games ever, in my opinion.

they literally make you run forward into open areas, which is when the enemies spawn, then you have to run backwards back into your old cover spot (for crushing mode, for any other difficulty you probably don't have to), stuff like that, just wasn't extremely well designed. they did a lot better with that in UC2, which makes me think they realized this flaw.

The action in UC2 is way better than UC1, just keep that in mind when you get sick of UC1's shooting sequences - FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN

UC2 is definitely the better game -- across the board, really, minus less Sully -- but Crushing in both games was challenging. There was never anything 'unfair' in either game on those difficulties. Some rough spots, but nothing bad. Both games are all about advantageous positioning.

I found UC1 def unfair at times, like I said, poorly designed cover, which isn't so bad in the other difficulties. They giant open area near the end with sully, with snipers anywhere, I literally beat that part by hiding in a real tiny alleyway with no cover that they happened to have. stuff like that.

I didn't find UC2 on crushing that challenging honestly. not gonna say it was EASY, maybe after UC1 though, it just seemed like nothing.

The problem with cover in UC1 isn't that it's 'poorly designed' (assuming you're talking about the positioning of it, that's not the problem), it's that using it is kinda awkward. You can end up sticking to it when you don't mean to, or not get into it when you're trying. It can be weird like that.

I know the area you're talking about, but I didn't find the snipers to be the real issue there. The trouble was handling everyone coming at you from all sides and angles. I kinda liked that, though. Enemies were very aggressive in UC1 compared to UC2.

Only thing I really disliked about Uncharted 1 was the goddamn sixaxis use for grenades.

Yes. Sixaxis controls were bad news in every game they were in.
