From: baron von toast | #285 Yes, I know that they die when the necromancer dies, but it seems like it would be helpful to maybe clear them out a bit instead of making suicide runs at necromancers that I don't know where they are.
if you went through anor londo you really don't need a divine weapon. I did the catacombs before going to sen's fortress and it was really easy.
Just fought Kirk in the Depths. It was funny - on my way to him I got invaded by a dude who I couldn't lock onto and he had the furysword (I'm assuming, since he had a fiery curved sword). He wrecked me, obviously. Kirk was almost too easy.
SL 30, by the way. I feel like I'm probably a little overleveled, but whatever. >_>

The Furysword looks exactly like Quelaag sword, I think it's on fire too, normal fire weapons aren't on fire, they just light you up when they hit you.
Wait, I thought the Furysword WAS the Quelaag sword.
And no, it was on fire even when he didn't hit me - I dodged his first 2 attacks then tried hitting him with Drake and I couldn't get more than two hits in since he was invisible and I'm so used to locking on.
I haven't beaten it. I got sidetracked by how fun it was helping others with bosses. And now I have Battlefield 3 to play. And with Skyrim coming out soon... I'll beat it someday.
I still need to go through demon ruins to get the last lord soul and then beat the final boss. And I want to check out the forest hunter and darkmoon covenants as well, although I have a feeling that SL55 might be too high for the forest hunter stuff.
also I'll have to play through it once more to get the other ending!
I have been absorbed in Rune Factory but will help keep the thread alive with mundane rambling when I get back to it!
Right now I am at the first bonfire in the Catacombs. I want to back out and grind some souls and put two more levels into INT before I go on so I can use those quirky Oolacile spells, specifically the light spell because I think I am headed for DARKNESS.
oh I get it now, saw that and figured I might as well put my +2 chaos servant status to use. why is there no bonfire in lost izalith, augh. in fact why are all the bonfires so far away with these lord soul bosses.
also got the old witch's ring. this game... I can already see the developers going "well maiden astrea sure made everyone feel like a jerk, how about we do it multiple times in this game"
Blighttown is like a better-designed World 5 in that your deaths aren't as "cheap", but with enemies that can actually kill you in addition to the environment wrecking you.
Finally getting back to this after finishing up Batman. Still kind of switching back and forth between the two, though. I did get my guide from Amazon finally. I love it, I can see why it's in such high demand.
I'm in the Crystal Cave right now trying to get down to Seath without falling to my death. Not doing too well, probably should try it when I'm sober. Drinking and Dark Souls don't seem to mix well!
I actually beat Seath drunk! The one boss I beat that particular night. Took about an hour and a half, because I wasn't giving up on getting the Moonlight Sword, but I did it!
I could probably do it if I wasn't impatient about trying to fight the golems. I keep falling off the edges due to the fact that I'm getting hasty. I wish I could put more time into it but I gotta work in the morning.
At least now I have an idea of what the area is like for when I play tomorrow. Should make things easier.
From: MrSmartGuy | #319 There is a bonfire in Lost Izalith. There's an illusory wall in one of those square buildings near the end of the lava.
From: Kirby Driver Reborn | #320 Directly across from the tree-root you need to climb up to get to the boss, in that square building in the lava.
well that explains it, since I didn't go into the lava! I did just now though, it was horrible at first but then I realized those dragon butts where hurting each other so after that I just shot arrows at all the dragons I could see from a save spot and watch the carnage unfold.
also don't worry murphiroth, crystal cave sucks even when you're sober!
oh geez, people even bow to me when I'm a forest hunter black phantom? I felt so bad for the guy that I bowed as well, of course he was already getting back stabbed by the other black phantom by then but it's the thought that counts, right.
PvP in Kiln is pretty sweet. The phantoms and players are almost always initially separated by a huge distance, so there's plenty of chances for a "Well, what is it?" gesture before the fight begins.
Man, Quelaag is so much easier with multiple people. I was getting her down to half HP by myself, but I didn't have to use a single flask when I summoned this one dude to help me out.
And I'm ONE large shard away from the furysword :/
Back in the forest, trying to fight those invisible dicks. Poison cloud helps a lot, mostly just because the number over their head helps me see where they are.
But the huge cats still scare the crap out of me.

oh also, does anyone use fire surge. The first time I tried to use it, it froze my game when I was helping a guy in the O&S battle. so I'm wondering if it does that a lot and I shouldn't use it or if I just got hit by a random freeze that doesn't have to do with fire surge at an unlucky time.
From: Peace___Frog | #342 I was hoping to farm souls. Now I need to get 84000 more. What's a good place to farm souls? >_<
You're already there! The forest (area with all the humanoids, just before the covenant) is the best soul grinding area at all levels, now and forever. On NG+ you get 20k souls per 2 minutes. Just run past and gather up all the enemies, then stand on the ledge near the stairs, and they'll all run off to their doom and grant you tons of souls.
I actually just got my guide in the mail a few days ago. Ordered on Amazon when it was only like $13. Great deal.
Finished off Seath, beat Sif on my first try, and destroyed the Four Kings on my second last night. Next goal is to farm a few more Titanite Chunks off the Darkwraiths to get my Man-Serpent Greatsword to Lightning +5.
Then I'm thinking Catacombs/Tomb of Giants and Nito.
Wait, there's a way to make them all fall to their deaths? Including the invisible guys? Because I'm awful at fighting against people I can't lock onto.
I guess I can't break the covenant any more, huh? But if I kill Shiva right now, will he respawn when I absolve my sins? I kind of need him, that's the main reason I joined the covenant...
-- ~Peaf~ "Later that day, I f***ed a panda." - PSO
If you broke the covenant, you're just plain out of it, there's not like levels of breaking it. >_> If you attacked the cat I don't think that you can rejoin on that game. But yeah, you can make all of them fall to their death by just standing on the ledge, it's how pretty much everyone farms souls, and it goes crazy quickly.
Right when you enter the area past the crest door, to the left of the stairs (assuming you're going down them), there's a ledge. It probably has a ton of messages written on it because it's where everyone does all their grinding. If all you really want is the ring of fog (not sure where Shiva fits in, what do you need from him?), you can trade your skull lantern to Snuggly for one.

unless you need a slab or if there's some secret new londo bonfire I'm unaware of, I'd suggest just continuing the game. In the final area of the game there are enemies that will always drop a certain chunk when you beat them, the one closest to the bonfire always drops a normal titanite chunk.
