1. Vince - Portishead - Sour Times probably cheating but a great song 8.6/10
2. ND - Admiral Fallow - Squealing Pigs at first I thought "boring folk song", but I enjoyed it once the kickdrum started hitting 8.2/10
3. KCF - Ludovico Einaudi - Divenire gorgeous and even stirring at times, wish it dared to go somewhere during the song 8.0/10
4. Bartz - Zero 7 - Futures good groove and the weird electro breakdown actually works, doesn't move much beyond "nice background" 7.8/10
5. Cokes - Caravan Palaces - Ended With The Night smoky jazz grooves are cool, violin solo is even cooler, but it didn't really captivate me 7.2/10
6. Whakko - Nicola Roberts - Beat of My Drum (Instrumental) repetitive and simply doesn't groove as hard as the original pon de floor, still would love it on a dancefloor 6.8/10
7. WI - Murcof - Recuerdos would have been better and spookier without the skittering electro beats 6.7/10
8. JC - Rockwell Knuckles - Play Catch beat sounds nice but nothing special, and I feel like a better rapper would have murdered it 6.4/10
9. Carl - Innerpartysystem - Don't Stop gross the singer sounds like 3OH!3 pubes/10
Wait for someone else to drop out, should happen soon enough, maybe even JC this week. You can always do a nebulous rec, there's a chance other people are willing to listen. You're free to rank any of our stuff too!
Ludovico Einaudi - divenire Holy. ****ing. ****. If I hadn't listened to this week's songs I wouldn't have heard this and holy **** that would be just the greatest travesty ever. God this is great. Also this is a KCF rec and that shocks me a lot.
Admiral Fallow - Squealing Pigs I've really started liking this type of music recently. Crazy hick instruments. So good. The chick jumping in to help with the chorus helps the song a lot too.
Innerpartysystem - Don't Stop I really liked the song but I'm not going to lie the lyrics turned me off a bit. Still quality though. I just felt like half of what they were saying was serious and not just song lyrics.
Portishead - Sour Times Wasn't a huge fan of the song but I really liked her voice.
M83 - Steve McQueen I honestly forgot I was listening to this like four times in three minutes but from what I hadn't zoned out from (blamed on the song not on other things), was pretty good.
Zero 7 - Futures It's really mellow, but I felt that it was really invariant. It had really short chords (probably using the wrong terminology here) and the vocals just sorta buzzed through. They weren't monotone but it was like they were all on the same note. Had a lot of potential but I think it missed some of it.
Caravan Palace I felt like this would have been appropriate for Fallout. I'm not hugely into the style. It was interesting, but I probably wouldn't voluntarily choose it when there's a bunch of other better songs to listen to.
Nicola Roberts - Beat of My Drum Um. No. Please for the love of god no. What the hell is this. It's like someone tried to make Banjo-Tooie music cool.
Murcof - Recuerdos The length. I would totally rank this above Beat of My Drum if it weren't eight minutes long.
IT IS DONE
