For some reason I am concerned about this match because the winner will probably win the next round as well. I think on one hand we have seen Alucard in the contests, but Shepard not so much. However, with the Mass Effect 3 hype, will people for for Shepard not because of the rivalry, but because they like the series.
I think I am reading into match way to much.

this is what will happen literally every match in this contest except sometimes it will be "character(s)" rather than "series" that they like

Hard to say which way the voters will go, most likely a bit of both.
But then, there isn't much to Alucard vs. Dracula either, so I would say that if you looked at it as rivalries only, Shepard vs. Saren would still win.

I don't know Saren's role in Mass Effect, and though I've seen a YouTube LP of SOTN, I don't remember how often Alucard meets Dracula there outside of the final boss confrontation.
I think I just thought about individual character strength at the time and thought "Alucard is so much stronger than anyone else in this division, he's going to go to town!".
Looking up IGN's entry on Saren in their top 100 villains list, it seems that Saren is little more than the main antagonist of the original Mass Effect and that, despite some serious backstory, he doesn't actually have much of a role for Shepard. At least Alucard is Dracula's son!
Okay, I'm sticking with Alucard > Shepard. Besides, we all saw what Alucard did to Magus last year, right?
Alucard v. Dracula isn't a huge rivalry... honestly, even though Alucard's been the strongest Castlevania character, I think Simon Belmont vs. Dracula would've garnered a lot more traction, even with people voting based on series rather than specific rivalry. I just can't see Shepard losing at the point where Mass Effect's popularity has exploded since last contest, even if Saren is a nobody. Beyond that, I see Shep winning over Freeman but being rolled over by Portal. Portal already would've beat Half-Life beat before Portal 2, and I have to imagine a huge boost in popularity since, especially with the recent reminder of new, free, DLC.
