I get the sense that it's only popular because it's classic, and even then it's outdone by the Belmonts. is there a true Alucard/Dracula showdown in any game (CV3 notwithstanding)?

this match is driving me nuts

I do, but only because Alucard's badass. No idea how strong this will actually be though.

yeah I guess this is Dracula. when I think of Dracula, I think of CV1-3 or something like the Portrait of Ruin fight.

I enjoy it. They took one event - the death of the wife/mother at the hands of humans - and took from it two directly opposing ideologies, and yeah SotN. Also Alucard is pretty awesome and Dracula is too.

But if there were like a "Belmonts vs. Dracula" option that would've been the best ever

I'm too tired to drive anywhere, anyway, right now, do you care if I praise Black Turtle?

I took Alucard/Dracula without even thinking about it. The only other group capable of winning is Magos/Frog. I don't think people care so much about the rivalry, but that's not why they'll win. Alucard is strong here, and they paired him with a loved character who appears in everything. Is there anyone that doesn't think Dracula is a badass?

Belmonts vs Dracula is what I nominated and tried to get others to do.

No one listened.

that said, i do like their relationship, but not necessarily due to any single game. it's more like alucard has been his rival ever since CV3 and all the way through the series - from SoTN to DoS, he's been there trying to beat/supress/convince his father. so it's a good long series challenge there.

besides that, really it's friggin' Dracula. he's not gonna get all his strength from just Castlevania.

Well, the "No Groups" rule means that we wouldn't be able to nominate Belmonts/Dracula and would probably have to do Simon Belmont/Dracula. I'd rather have Alucard/Dracula than that.

You thought of CV3 and Portrait of Ruin before SotN? On GameFAQs?

Honestly, even from SotN, I think Richter/Dracula is more memorable. This is probably entirely due to the sheer (campy) memorability of the "die monster, you don't belong in this world!" exchange, while the final battle of SotN is a blur (and total joke).

I like Alucard a fair bit better than Richter, though, and I'm sure that's what went through the mindset of the nominators.
