Taking their inspiration from "99-1" protests in New York City and elsewhere, protestors appeared to be coalescing against what they see as the centralization of power by society's richest 1 percent.
"The message is that the 99 percent of us in the world are tired of the 1 percent having all the power," said Garth Carroll, a Washington resident who goes by Professor Gizmo, as he swept the walkway in front of a See's Candies storefront.
IMO the top 1% and the Tea Party should retaliate by lobbying Congress to put in fully regressive tax rates:
80% on the first 10k of income 70% from 10k to 20k 60% from 20k to 40k 50% from 40k to 80k 40% from 80k to 160k 30% from 160k to 320k 20% from 320k to 1M 10% from 1M to 10M 5% from 10M to 100M 1% from 100M to 1B No tax above 1B No capital gains tax
Then the Republicans in the Senate can threaten to filibuster everything unless this is passed. They can use this tax plan as leverage to force the Democrats to acquiese to more limited goals.

This certainly sounds like the type of man who ought to have power over others, yes indeed!
