It was announced in a large advert to me when I opened Steam. >_> Went ahead and bought it + soundtrack just based on the trailer. Sounds fantastic. Now those bastards just need to get SMB out for Mac already. -_- I've owned that thing for nearly a year....

Just did my first run at it, made it to the third basement boss before dying.
The powerups and dungeon element seem pretty awesome, though it makes it all the more painful when you die and have to start the game over. Guess it is a roguelike though, so that's to be expected.

I'm getting a little bit farther each time I try, the variety of power ups is pretty bonkers. Some of them are so great that I really miss em when they don't show up.

Came out the 28th actually, no huge announcement, but if you frequent indiegames.com like myself you'd have known. Was only able to play a bit, having some fun with it, only made it to the 3rd dungeon though.

My opinion, worth 5 bucks, but not much more, I would have been disappointed if I had payed 10 to be honest.

I watched some videos of this the other day - it looks cool but the shooting looks dreadfully slow. what's up with that? doesn't it get boring?

It doesn't get too boring cause the game is actually pretty short and is meant for multiple playthroughs. Also there's a number of unlockable characters and what not that will make you want to play it more. It is pretty fun I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea from my previous post. I was just really anticipating it and expected more.

There's like 49 different power ups and a lot of them affect your shot type, speed, and power.

I'm enjoying the game greatly. Good value for $5 dollars. There are some pretty stupid bugs right now though. If you use like, CC Cleaner or have Firefox set to clear cache, all your data is deleted since the game's flash based. It's a similar situation as with VVVVVV if you've ever had troubles with your data being deleted in that game. It's exceptionally more frustrating/relevant with this game since there are a ton of secrets to collect over a long period of time.

The controls actually work pretty fantastically on a keyboard.
Of course, I thought SMB was perfect on a keyboard so treat me like a crazy person if you want to. >_>

Honestly.... I'm inclined to think it's better with a keyboard; or at least perfectly fine. I don't know of any non-FPS console games that have you actively using 2 control sticks at a time while pressing other buttons occasionally.

Man, this game is great. Horribly luck based in some ways though. Just had a run where I got to the 7th floor and my tears were at like, damage level 4 and the speed on my shots/range were maxed out, as well as having 7 heart containers and the vampire thing that gave me back .5 hearts every 4 or so kills. I even had chocolate milk which, with all my speed upgrades, meant I was charging full shots in the time it would take to shoot 2 normal shots when you start the game, and the charged shots literally 1 shot every single normal enemy I came across after I got 'em. Even had like, 30 coins and 10 bombs. Unfortunately, not a shop was to be found in sight, and as opposed to the slot machine I bombed on the 4th floor that gave me like, 4 hearts, the only machines I could find just gave keys and bombs when bombed. Had such a good chance on that run too. >_<
