Can go up or down depending on the bracket and how fun it is to predict, probably capping off at about a 7. Seems like a more narrowed characters contest to me; as a voter, if Bowser were in a match, he could be paired with the Republican National Party or something equally boring for all I care and I'd still vote for him. Has the potential to be interesting and have some fun, but again, the bracket'll determine that.

people are really that pissed that joke characters are not allowed? really? we already had a joke character win the whole damn thing and beat Link, don't see a point in having them anymore. And Missingno losing to Sephiroth prove that people are tired of them as well.

As for pairings like Mario/Sonic, Allen said they are allowed, so if they get enough nominations they will make it. Nothing to complain about here either.

And for those who simply don't like the premise..fair enough. But you could always treat it as a normal character battle with a small twist (tag teams) and will produce a different and harder to predict bracket.

I love the contests, but rivalries is just tag teams with lousy limitations. No one is going to vote for the rivalry, they will vote for the characters. It is better than having no contest but honestly this is about as exciting as the villains contest.

Oracle will be fun. Dunno about the Guru contest; it depends on the bracket.

Downsides include consolidation of power (Link Ganon upgrades Ganon to god-tier, presumably) and the inevitable beatdowns by noble nine pairings. Many characters who are decently strong but people aren't sure precisely how they'd perform against each other - Vincent Tifa Yoshi Auron MissingNo Pikachu Zelda - won't be present.

At least we don't know for 100% that Link-Ganon will win, even if it looks probable.
