It's worth it if you're someone who even occasionally buys games online. I've only had it for 3 months now and it's already paid for itself in savings and free games. I understand that I probably wouldn't have bought the things I have if I were NOT saving on them, but then there are all the free games. I mean for $50 I've already got...

Borderlands and all DLC for $15 ($25-$35 savings I believe)
Resident Evil 4 for $10 (half price)

all these games for free...

Medievil
Streets of Rage 2
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Jet Moto
Plants vs. Zombies
Altered Beast
Crash Commando
Destruction Derby

And a bunch of other stuff I never bothered downloading. As you can see, I don't really BUY that many games... If the next 9 months are anywhere near as good as the first three.. I'll be a pretty happy camper.

This. If it weren't for that, then yeah, it'd be a tremendous deal.

Oh that's bull.

I was gonna say I only have 80 gigs of space and most of it is already used up, so I wouldn't be able to download much until I got an upgrade, but that won't be for a long while.

Now that I know about that deleting thing, I see that there really is no point to it at all.

yeah, you only "own" those games for as long as you're paying money for Plus

so it's not exactly free games, since you still pay for them.

No. Once your subscription expires, you can no longer launch the games. If you re-subscribe at any point, you'll be able to play the games again.

If your Netflix subscription ends, do you still expect to be able to stream movies from their service?

I'm renting all of those (and whatever comes out in the next 9 months) for about $4 a month... And that would be if I bought nothing else for the entire year. I think the savings alone justify it.. Games are just a nice bonus, really.

When it launched there were literally zero worthwhile deals.

I still wouldn't bother with the free games though. All about the discounts on games like RE4 HD for 10 bux

If you want to look at it that way, sure. The amount of free games you receive is well above the $50 / year you pay for the service, without even taking sales, betas, early demos, cloud saves, and other bonuses that come along with it into account. PS+ is a great deal for what you get.

Also, all you have to do is click the game when it's free. You can leave it in your download page without ever activating it and you'll still pay nothing when you actually decide to download it. I just left everything in my queue until today (bought a new hard drive) and it's still all free, even though most of the offers ended weeks ago.

Also it exposed me to a lot of games that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Critter Crunch was a freebie at some point and it turned out to be one of my favorite games on the PS3.

Well from what I can tell, you still have to pay for games even with Playstation Plus, it's just not as much, and then you can no longer play them after the subscription expires. So if Netflix still made you pay some money to watch movies and shows, then yeah, it would be a ripoff. But you don't have to pay anything at all, so it's worth it.

No Halo, you've got it wrong.

If a game is on PS+ discount (but not free), and you buy it while on your subscription, you get to keep it forever and only had to pay the discount price.

If a game is free for PS+ members, that means that as long as you have your subscription you can play that game for free (including if you stop subscribing and then resubscribe later), but if you're not subscribed, you can't play it.

I have no idea how you became so confused on this subject.

Playstation Plus is a member's reward subscription service. For your money, you are given the following:

- Weekly discounts on PSN items
- Weekly free games
- Early access to demos
- Early access to betas
- Cloud saves
- Automatic PSN and patch updates
- Possibly some other stuff I'm forgetting.

After your subscription ends, there is no additional fee for anything. That doesn't even make sense. Any games you purchased at a discount are yours to keep forever. Any themes or avatars you downloaded are yours to keep forever. The free games you downloaded remain on your hard drive, and though you'll be unable to play them, if you resubscribe to PS+ at any time, you'll be able to play those games again.

Yeah, the automatic patching and cloud saving is awesome too. I have it set so my system turns on every morning at like 8:00 and downloads any updates and then uploads all of my modified saves to the cloud.
