That, or more likely, the people who stole it three years ago finally got ballsy.
They bought 6,000 Microsoft points and immediately used them. I had to go through changing my Windows Live ID crap and recovering my Gamertag.
It's a pain in the ass. I talked to the dude for over and hour going through everything. They have to do a whole "investigation" before they'll even give me a refund. I'm saying to him, like, yeah of course I need a refund AND I want criminal action taken on these people.
$75 gone when I don't have a job and my bank account is dwindling. Not a good thing. This week has just been ridiculous. First health care fraud, now xbox fraud.
No, I mean my console was stolen. My 360, PS2, Wii, and $,1300 laptop were stolen from my dorm because I had a dumbass roommate. I just never changed any account information once I got my new console so I'm wondering if they were able to just boot it up and charge crap to my card.
Is there a new exploit to hack into people's accounts now? Or do people just have really terrible passwords? Or maybe the same login credentials as their PSN accounts, and the people who hacked Sony are just getting around to trying everyone?

Shouldn't have been able to. I used to do the "recover your gamertag" thing on my friend's 360 when I went over to his place, and when I got home I couldn't log in on mine without recovering again.
Apparently XBox got hacked like PSN did, so people gained access to account info and charged Microsoft points using the credit cards being used to pay for XBL membership.
There's been plenty of discussion of this on the XBox board.

Damn, I wonder. It was set up for the same email address. It's changed now with a much stronger password of course. Maybe I should contact that place I got a free year subscription with from the PSN thing.
When my brother's account was hacked and a bunch of MS points were charged to his account, Microsoft said that it would take 28 business days for a full investigation. It's still ongoing at the moment.

Yeah that's what he said. How long has it been?
The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Investigation. Yeah, I had a CORPORAL investigating when everything was stolen and nothing ever came of that! I gave the serial number to the Xbox people and told them is was stolen, and nothing came of that! Investigations. I better get my 75 bucks back.
Yeah it does. I'm really not confident at all in their "investigation" skills. They should recognize that it was bought from an IP address nowhere near where I am, accept that I'm telling them the truth, and find and arrest the bastards that did it.
I'm wondering how this hacking business works. They buy the points with your CC, then buy the content, and even though they don't log in again with your account they can still use it because it was purchased on their console, right?
So can't you just go on xbox.com and revert the ownership rights to your console? Then they wouldn't be able to use any of it anymore. I mean I wouldn't do this until Microsoft has confirmed that they're not helping you since it would probably make them less inclined to do so, but that would be a nice little screw you to the thieves.
TBQH I'm not sure why the thieves didn't do that to you though. They had your password, you'd think the first thing they'd do is go on the website and revert all your ownership rights to their console, and probably change your password while they're at it so you can't get it back. I guess they figure the theft will be more likely to go unnoticed if they don't change anything on your end?
