mostly agree with silvercross' post but
I think the 360's triggers could use a little re-alignment. RT/LT are great and should stay the same, but RB/LB are pretty awkward and should be relocated or eliminated entirely I don't see a big enough difference with the face buttons to make note of it, although I do think the DS3's shapes are more recognizable where the 360 controller uses letters but in a different order than classically(SNES layout), ie they did it WRONG sorry MS, it doesn't matter that nintendo is terrible now and I use the 360 controller more, X YA B is the only acceptable alphabetical button scheme, if this is copyrighted or something, then do what sony did and use something else entirely ... I'm assuming he means the context-sensitivity of the DS3's face buttons, which is something the 360 doesn't have.

From: Liquid Wind | #052 I have always thought that the SNES needed to switch the X and Y buttons. Why is the X button on the Y-axis and vice versa? -- http://img.imgcake.com/tyder21/Colinbearanimationjpgza.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

From: StealThisSheen | #053 It was never supposed to be a debate. But at worst it's unnecessary, in no way is it incorrect. Unless you simply mean it does work correctly. I was also thinking about the way the face buttons are flat and more responsive, whereas, the 360 buttons are slightly convex and are slightly more resistant to pressure. Not a big issue, but the PS3 face buttons are slightly better. -- There was a signature here. It's gone now. Your face is bees. ... Copied to Clipboard!

^5 44% of Gamefaqs. 360 does have better triggers though, but those bumpers are atrocious.

Infact this is kinda why I feel Classix is awesome.
S's d-pad is a pile of ass that deserves to get banished into oblivion. Dualshock's is imprecise and breaks easily for some reason. ClassiX? Perfect D-pad. Too bad it has to be with the Wii Mote -- Nice catch BlAcK TuRtLe. But too bad your ass got SAAAAAAAAAAACKED.*tackles* ... Copied to Clipboard!

the 360 Dpad makes it extremely hard to play old platformers.. I died so much in SMW because of that D-Pad.

From: StealThisSheen | #062 Well I've used it for a couple other games and while it makes the correct response a lot of the time, I've still had instances where I press a certain direction and the games tells me otherwise. Since I've literally never had that happen with a face button or any other controller's d-pad... yeah. Does not work correctly. The only reason it's so easy to notice in fighting games is because you're making a lot more movements in a much smaller amount of time. -- http://soundcloud.com/thundersheep/lunatic-asylum http://soundcloud.com/thundersheep/summer-rain ... The D-Pad works correctly as long as you don't try to change direction often, then it kinda fails since it makes it too easy to '' hit '' the diagonals.
For most games it's good enough. -- Best LPer ever, Gix ! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt5YKmP7ecY ... Copied to Clipboard!

Alrighty. If you can use it for a game like SMW without encountering any problems...my bad. I'm talking about the difference between getting "up" and "up-right" when using the thing. From my experience it wouldn't be great for precise 2D platforming either. Again, if I'm just terrible with it then sorry. But it's always seemed pretty useless to me.

I wouldn't ever use the 360's d-pad for a 2D platformer. I would rather use a keyboard before that.
