The funny thing is, Paul absolutely destroys ALL of the "who won the debate" polls. The various websites and polling agencies have responded by removing him as an option. Pay close attention, you're seeing more and more of these "who do you support" polls that only allow you to choose between Perry, Romney, and Bachmann.

What a f***ing joke.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/09/new-hampshire-poll-romney-huntsman-ron-paul-rick-perry.html

Glad to see New Hampshire knows what's up. Poll results if you don't want to open the link:

Romney 41%
Paul 14%
Huntsman 10%
Perry 8%
Palin 6%
Bachmann 5%
Gingrich 4%
Santorum 1%
Roemer 1%

I've also been impressed by Jon Huntsman- he seems like a smart, reasonable, person in the debates. Has the right vision for America and would know how to actually implement it. And as a bonus, he's from Utah- I've only ever met good people from that state, and it's a model for what America should be economically.

IMO New Hampshire is a great state to hold the first primary. So much more reasonable than most of the country. Perry, Palin, and Bachmann shouldn't be in the running for this.

I'll give Huntsman credit for standing by his principles, but they guy isn't even a wolf in sheep's clothing. He's a wolf in wolf's clothing. Centrist might be giving him too much credit. There are plenty of Democrats more conservative than him.

Anyway, Santorum is really starting to piss me off. It's like he's only there to engage, distract, and smear people with new and/or unique ideas (Paul, Johnson, and even Huntsman). He knows he can't win, so he's just trying to take out everyone who could really make a difference. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends up as Romney's VP as a reward for being a "good soldier" and so Romney can trot him out there to try and convince conservatives that he isn't a leftist in disguise.

I agree that this is sick that they boo but let's get something straight

in the military females/males are segregated against. They're separated from one another since sexual contact is extremely prohibited. The idea is you're serving, you're fighting, you're not screwing around while on duty. Gays in the military are then right next to their own... attraction you dig? I think they should be allowed in, but certainly anyone can see why this is a touchy subject, no?

no hope for this board. They don't need to act on anything or have "self control." They're surrounded by what they're attracted to and there's plenty of soldiers in a platoon. The eye candy alone, because in that situation you're bound to find at least one you like, is enough to boost morale for a soldier in basic training. A straight one is lucky to get a glimpse at a female drill sergeant and you won't want to look at her again.

Get your goddamn facts straight.

Yeah, and people have no idea what military service is actually like. It's not nearly as simple as say, sharing a locker room at the gym. On submarines, you're talking about a few hundred dudes locked in a small enclosed space underwater together for six months at a time where they literally share beds. Not at the same time of course, but basically, when you wake up from sleeping, someone else is just getting off their shift and about to sleep in the same bed you just got out of.

So, if you're so against any sort of perceived guilt, and so sure gays should be allowed in that situation, why shouldn't women be allowed? Hell, the same logic applies to Rick Santorum. If he's so adamant that "sex shouldn't be an issue" in the military, then why do we discriminate based on gender?

Or that:

1. Different bathrooms have different requirements (urinals, sanitary napkin disposals)
2. Women want privacy for some actions that require mirrors (adjusting makeup, adjusting bras).
3. Due to different hormones, urine from different genders smells different.
4. Washroom sinks are different heights to account for average height of the gender.

Yet for some reason, straight men who don't want to shower with a bunch of gay men are hatemongers. I'm just demanding consistency. Either allow for discrimination or don't, but stop telling me that some discrimination is okay but other discrimination is bad.

Easy answer: women should be allowed on submarines.

In fact, I've heard a good argument that submarines should be staffed primarily by women. Women are shorter, which works better in the cramped spaces; women eat less, which works better with the limited rations; women are more social and less solitary, which works better when you can't get away from people for months on end.

Last I checked, the military doesn't currently deny female applicants solely based on the fact that they're female.

And you say "a bunch of gay men" as if gays will be lining up to join an organization that will probably never accept them even if the government tells them to.

It really is ridiculous how hard the major news places are working to pretend Paul isn't even running.

Obama is problematic too - the right hates him and the left is dissatisfied as well. For almost every American citizen, he would not be the first choice for president. But it's taken for granted that he'll be the nominee, and he'll face Romney or Perry in the election and most on the left will vote Obama because "hell no the other choice."

This basically discribes me. I'm a moderate and have never really been a big fan of Obama, but its like the Republicans want me to pick him by only giving me options that I cannot possibly see myself voting for. I really want them to nominate a candidate I can support, but I'm really doubting that is going to happen.

This is why I will be changing to a Republican for the Iowa Primary in a vague hope that I can find someone to support.

Oh please, women not serving on Submarines isn't because they choose not to.

Showering is an inconvenience. The same way MASA spacesuits being designed for males, and needing to completely remove the spacesuit just to pee when used by females is an inconvenience. And yet, gasp, there are female astronauts.

If females were permitted on submarines, I guarantee there would be women serving on submarines.

infantry. Women can't be 11bravo or 11charlie or 11alpha whatever it stands for. I'm guessing the reason why is that women are perceived to not survive multiple shots on the front line compared to a male... some physical inferiority or something I don't know. All I know is, from what I hear from my sergeants (yes, I've been in the military for a year now) females can not be infantry soldiers. most are nurses or some sort or form of medic from what I've seen.

That's discrimination is it not? I see some badass females in my platoon who could kick some ass.

i figured it was something along those lines, yea

but shouldn't they screen to see the physical power/condition of the woman first before deciding on such a thing?

in the end it's still discriminatory but you don't see people whining about it that much.

The end of the story is there's always gonna be something. Don't ask don't tell is finally, and rightfully gone, and progress is being made. Carry on.

I knew you'd bring up infantry, and you answered your own question: physical inferiority. If you want to call it discrimination, go ahead, but it's as discriminatory as refusing to use cats to pull your sled.

Granted, I'm of the opinion that if a female can meet or exceed the requirements to become front line infantry, she should be able to. However, I don't see a problem with this as a general rule.

So...have minimum strength requirements for front line combat, and not staggered minimum strength requirements--just a flat "you must be able to lift ___lbs" regardless of your gender.

Yeah, that's going to prevent a lot of women from being on the front lines, but not 100% of women.

First of all, I didn't want their blood to be screened pre-donation. The blood is screened during the process anyway, so denying gays from donating on the grounds that they're at a higher risk for HIV is ridiculous because of it. Not to mention that any organization would be ripped to shreds if they refused to accept the blood of black donors, even though they're also at a higher risk for HIV.

Second of all, I already told you what I thought should happen and that I'd never argue against females on the front lines, just that I consider it less of an injustice and thus far lower on my laundry list of s*** that needs to happen/be erased.

But continue to believe you won. Your mind is the only place that's ever true.
