Lots of people on the internet complaining about the ranked matchmaking which is really not very good. I played 3S occasionally on GGPO before the release, my experience there was usually better. The rollbacks are pretty serious too, lots of complaints about that. It's good to have real life friends to play with, I suppose!
So what, bad matchmaking and ui for match searching are the main complaints?
Doesn't really seem like something to be *majorly* disappointed with to me... It sucks, but it doesn't break the online like the lag in mvc3 arguable has.
If you don't like the GGPO lag masking and rollbacks, then turn the delay up and play with the lag exposed.
Also, for what its worth, I remember hearing/reading in an interview or something that developers using PSN/XBL are required to use certain default matchmaking code or something. And that it's more optimized for larger rooms or something that would be better in other online games, but doesn't work well when you're just looking for 1v1 matches.
It's a damn shame Skullgirls probably won't sell crap. It's a lot of effort put forth by people who actually know what the hell they're doing, it just won't get the coverage it needs or appeal to a casual audience.

I take it you just want to keep b****ing and don't actually care if there's an answer to one of your problems?
Well okay then.
I'm aware of changing the GGPO delay. It is by far not the biggest problem. I expected to have laggy matches anyway, living in Alaska. I did want to point out that by default GGPO on PC seemed to work better than however they've modified it for OE.
In any case most of the time I cannot find matches at all. Up to this point I've assumed I was just in the wrong part of the world. I was surprised to learn that everyone is dealing with the same thing.
I am disappointed that the port isn't as good as I'd like it to be. I bought a 360 to play 3S online and probably expected more than I should've.
Well I mean I guess that worked sort of better on PC too, but only because you had a list of people and their pings on the screen. I could find the nearest Canadian and get to it!
yeah there's not. I wouldn't compare them. I compared the in game experience between them.
the ranked match situation is frustrating in OE but it'd be silly to compare it to a lobby where you can just pick a person with good ping and challenge them. OE tries to go and find you an opponent and most of the time just doesn't find anyone.
From: ZFS | #016 Does 3SOE not allow you to choose a list of available players? SSF4 does that.
Not for Ranked Matches. Ranked Matches always choose your opponent for you. This is true in every game on Xbox Live, and probably all games on PSN too (it's at least the same for every multiplatform game, which is most of them).
You can make custom rooms or whatever those things are. I haven't really given that enough effort, it could be a better situation.
Right now ranked matches either gets you a match quick, or searches for a minute then gives you an error message. In my experience, it's almost a guaranteed error message during the day. During the late night (about 11PM-3AM Alaska time) is actually pretty solid on 360. I find a constant stream of matches, and most of them have decent enough pings that we can live with it and have fun. Occasionally you get a really stuttery slow wonky match but mostly I can't complain. I just played maybe 20-30 matches and it worked pretty well.
This seems like something they could probably fix. It's not a game-crushing problem. Just gotta figure out how to get these people searching for ranked matches connected to each other.
I think I got the game after the patch, so I can't say for sure. From what I've read though, it sounds like what we have now is an improvement on how it started.
