LeonhartFour posted... Double Fun Fact: Since you can save your game, you can just replay the first zone of S3 where there are a million easily accessible big rings and get all the Emeralds that way. uh ok?
I already beat the game with the emeralds, I really don't want to torture myself any further

All I meant is that you don't have to get everything the first time you play because you can replay any level you want at any time from your Save File. Obviously, getting all the emeralds is essential to accessing the final part of the game, but that can easily be done without torturing yourself needlessly.

Tell me you're not hating on the Hero Coins.
And why in the world are you a completionist if you hate collecting things? No wonder you can't enjoy good games.
if the game is good enough then I don't mind it at all.
it was just a chore in Sonic
Sonic is advertised as being TEH FASTEST THING ALIIIIVE and cool and ****
thats exactly what my thoughts were when going into these games
SO I JUST WANT TO RUN GOD DAMMIT
But nooooo
Sonic 3 and the others make you want to go looking
in Sonic 1, 2, and 4, I can do all the running and platforming stuff, and provided if I have enough rings, BAM, I'll get my chance right then and there to get the emerald
FWIW, the S&K Special stages, though easy to find, are a lot harder than S3's. All of S3's are a joke and should be done in one go. A bunch of the S&K ones can take a few tries.

SA1 - overhyped. Very glitchy and controls are really clunky. Only a few of the Sonic stages are genuinely enjoyable. Best part of this game is that Crush 40 started making music for Sonic games.
SA2 - underhyped. Fantastic game. Sonic and Shadow stages are among the best in the series. Eggman/Tails stages are really fun too. Knux/Rogue stages are super easy once you know where the treasures are hidden, but doing them the first time is really annoying. 3rd favorite Sonic game overall.
Heroes - uhhh...it has my favorite Crush 40 song (What I'm Made Of). That's about it
Shadow - WHERE IS THAT DAMNED 4TH CHAOS EMERALD
Sonic 2K6 - Honestly never thought a game could be this bad. Like I had heard it was bad, but it was just unimaginable how bad this really was
Secret Rings - They purposely gimp the controls early on by introducing an RPG level up mechanic. It gets better as you level up and unlock more controls
Black Knight - Same as Secret Rings but with a Sword
Unleashed - I enjoyed the SD version more than the HD version. Day stages are super amazing, but require a ton of memorization to play them without dying a bunch of times. Night stages are okay in the SD versions. Not really bad, but not good either. The HD night stages suffer from the same RPG mechanic that I talked about earlier. Makes them almost unplayable early on
Colors - An entire game like Unleashed day stages. Very super fantastic. 2nd favorite sonic game overall.

THANK YOU
everybody thought I was crazy when I found them harder
From: pjbasis | #087 I don't care if you hate SA2, you must play them again just to rectify how wrong it is to think the first one is better.
Well, I initially played SA2 first. Didn't get to play SA1 since it came out later on GameCube. Decided to play SA2 again after SA1 to see if I was crazy for thinking SA1 was better.
I wasn't.

there's only one bonus stage in S&K that's legitimately difficult and has a few traps that most people wouldn't get their first try and that's the final one because of those yellow bounce pad sections where you hit a bumper and have to walk backwards for awhile before hitting another bumper and then turning right away
Wow, this topic has some really horrible opinions. Well, just one really. TC's.
Also if you're a completionist then you shouldn't have gotten all the emeralds in your first go anyway... because that way you miss the normal ending...
SA1 > SA2 is a legit opinion, by the way. I personally prefer 2, but there's something to be said for 1's variety and open-endedness. So many ways to play those stages!
There should be no questioning that S3&K is the best game in the series though.
Sonic didn't really seem to control much differently between Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. SA1 kinda gets my default nod because there's more Sonic levels AND the game doesn't make you switch playing styles to progress through the game.
Both are rendered relatively unplayable by Sonic Unleashed, though. I love the controls for the day stages and Sonic Colors.
