Apparently my friend has been playing the beta for a little bit now. He says the open beta is supposed to be ready in October or November.

Yeah, I could believe it.
We know for sure that some folks have been in the beta for a little while now, I'm guessing a few invites went out after the tournament. If rumors are to be believed, more will be sent out pretty soon. But yeah, October/November sounds about right for the open beta.

Nevermore again with the most badass avatar. That Sniper avatar is really fitting. He looks like a Leprechaun.

I hope all the different skill animations aren't too hard to get used to. I like Dota because the game is ugly, and it's easy to distinguish between all the different skills in the game.

Lion's new face is SUCH an improvement over his old one. His face was seriously bleh during the tournament.
Also Finger of Death and Thundergod's Wrath's new animations look unbelieveably awesome.

Ah, I get it now.
I'd forgotten Gabe had said this, but he did say near the end of the tournament that we could expect a beta of some kind to start in three week's time. It's been three weeks, so that explains all the rumblings of a beta starting.
Even if that's the case, this'll just be the invitational beta, since during the same interview he said the open beta would be a little while after the closed one started. Well, I sure hope I get an invite!
