At the risk of looking like mercenary, money-grubbing fat cats, I'll make this announcement:

On January 1st (or rollover on December 31st, depending on time zone), the piano cat and dramatic hedgehog will disappear from Mr. Store. They will be the last fairy/leprechaun and volleyball/leprechaun familiars available year-round.

They will be replaced with two new 2 Mr. A familiars: one which drops spleen-for-adventures items (like the fairy-worn boots), and one which opens up new adventuring zones (like the xenomorph, sandworm, astral badger, etc.).

So if you're interested in piano cats and hedgehogs, get 'em while they're hot!

Ah. Yeah, that's kind of annoying. I have a checklist that I use before my softcore ascensions with stuff like wet stew, large boxes, key lime pies. I think mafia can also do that for you (though I can't tell you how since I've never used it).

Going to start another SC Trendy run today. Making a tweak to the pull list: adding claw of the infernal seal on day 1. That gives me 5 more seal summons/day (seal summons don't take a turn, so they're basically free stats). Better than a clover pull because it levels offstats too -- I hate hitting level 12 and being unable to equip the frat war outfit.

Are you using the Hamburglaris shield generator? Best way to level to 30 quickly. The monsters scale to your moxie, so the more you buff your moxie, the more stats you get per fight. As a bonus, you can trade in your isotopes for epic food/booze to pull in softcore runs.

900k sounds expensive, I'd probably have to spend a week or two getting that back before I ascend, so I'm not sure.

I'm going to try and do a bunch of trendy softcore runs before the month ends. (The path stays until February 15, but the fax machine disappears at the end of this month. I doubt anyone is planning any serious trendy runs in February.)

I'm only six turns away from being bumped off the Trendy board. The lowest run on the board is 3/578; my best run is 3/572. I'm hoping to do a couple more ascensions this week to see if I can beat my record.

I'm kind of sick of being a seal clubber tbqh. All of my ascensions this month have been seal clubber. It's the best Trendy class, at least with my current skillset and equips, because it allows me to lather on the +ML without getting killed, and the seal figurine fights give free stats. But I'm looking forward to February so that I can play something else.

Speaking of which, there's a new contest for 100% runs with under-used familiars in February.

Lowest Trendy run currently on the softcore board is 3/561. The next lowest is 3/550. And there are still a couple days left in the month for people to post runs before the fax machine expires.

My personal best is 3/572. I can probably make 561 turns, with good RNG, but I don't think I can make 550 turns. So in all likelihood this is the end of the line for my hopes of getting a Trendy commendation.

I'm in the middle of my final run right now, so I'll see how that goes.

Lots of people doing last-minute Trendy runs, it seems. I'd need to match 3/535 in order to get on the board. There's no way I can manage that turncount -- my personal best is 572, and my current run looks like it's headed for around 560-80.

On a brighter note, just finished fixing up Null Vision's display case, woo. Check it out. It's shiny.

Also, new IotM! From what I hear, it contains a spooky putty replacement, which is something I've wanted for a long time. Going to wait until it's spaded a bit further, but I'm almost certainly getting one.
