I made a thread about this a month ago back when I was still using crappy free notation editors. Since then I have got my FLStudio on, taught myself how to use it with the help of a Mr. Toby "Radiation" Fox, and learned some (basic) music theory (Which was basically stuff I pretty much already knew from years in band/choir)
So I have exactly TWO (2) things to show, so tell me how I did.
http://tindeck.com/listen/twzn this one I tried to give an "abandoned Laboratory" theme, though I've been told it sounds industrial as well, with the sounds of pistons. Oh well!
http://tindeck.com/listen/rqsr This started out as another idea but spiraled out of control into this. I dunno what this is supposed to convey, but I like how it turned out either way. i also named it fartbass because I am a child.

it looks more complicated than it really is. i've only just started dabbling myself, and there are really only a few basic things you need to know to get started. that said there ARE a bajillion knobs and dodads and thingies that can do all kinds of things, but the absolute core of the thing seems to be manipulating the piano roll which is you placing notes in a pretty pattern. make a pattern for a beat and maybe play around with some effects and you're gold...well...maybe bronze, but more experience seems like it will expedite the process and help make it better...

There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out
I think my biggest problem is that all my songs so far are never longer than a minute and a half, I'm like, capable of making anything longer because of a fear of being too repetitive or something, and then when I listen to it with a fresh mind I either realize that I could have repeated a certain section again or thought of another melody to put there or something and other times it seems exactly the right length and aaaaaaaaa
