Hello one and all, this is a release topic for a game I've been working on for a while now, B8BN, a MMBN style fighting game with characters made for various b8 users. Without further ado, here's the download link.
I'd love any sort of feedback/bug reports/suggestions/what have you. That includes requests for me to buff/nerf certain characters and/or the final boss of story mode.
Speaking of which... Let me just say that Metroid Composite is the best against him by a massive margin >_>...

Controls are arrow keys to move, Z and A to use light attacks, X and S to use medium attacks, and C to use your finisher. Each type of attack has it's own energy bar.

Messing around, I've run into three glitches, all to do with Metroid Composite >_>. her homing attack actively aims away from Ayvuir, her storymode 3rd round is against me instead of silvercross like it should be, and her attacks treat the final boss as always having XX0 health until he's under 1/4th left. Gonna patch those and nerf her damage a bit because she's way too easy to beat the game with as of now >_>

Also thought I'd mention the specifics of the nerf on MC, the damage of her fractal attacks dropped from 15 + 1 to 10, to 10 + 1 to 10.
Gonna be doing some more balance patches methinks. Next patch is mostly going to remove damage vulnerability from my finisher and nerfing the hell out of silvercross' stepsword >_>. 5 Z energy for 25 damage = lolwut?

WC's infantry now do 8 damage (from 5) WC's mech units now take 2 hits to kill, but have a very short invulnerability period. (15 steps) WC's tanks now have a shorter invulnerability period (30 steps from 50) WC's finisher now drops 3 bombs instead of 2

Will I need to choose a battle theme? If so, does it need to be any particular format or would a youtube link be enough?

A youtube link is usually enough, because I can hunt down a download link in short order. But I'm more or less exhausted, so I'll make your character either tomorrow or the day after, so no rush.

Aww i finally reached the final round with Ayvuir and ****ing lost on the last hit! Should've been a double knockout in my opinion, but my grenade hit him a split second too late.
The bonus battle is the true final battle, and it is indeed possible. He just has 400 health and hits like a truck. The final round is also pretty hard given that the enemy takes half damage (rounded up) and you take 1.5x damage. But with a bit of practice it gets much easier. I've beaten story mode with every character by this point. (Not counting the Met who has no story mode as of yet)
As for the name thing, I really should do that but adding text to this is a pain in the ass. The name does show up after you beat story mode, but that's a bit difficult >_>
If you'd like Ayvuir I can PM you a secret that lets you skip straight to the final boss since you reached him already.
And final note, I plan on completing Caelus today, along with my best friend who wants to be in. As usual the spritework is tedious...

Caelus is now in the game, though his storymode won't be done for a bit. He's a bit weird to control. Just know you need to hold down Z for it to work.
Also, once I add Kyliea (my friend's username) to the game I'll add a few things. Stuff like a random selection button, a screen before battles showing the name of the characters fighting, and something else I can't remember right now.
On a side note, Caelus was a ***** to code. Aughaughaugh

Just a suggestion, I dunno how hard/easy it would be, but on the selection screen you have the photos of each character correct? Can you not just include the name in that photo somehow? Or in the battle screen under the charge bars?
I have no idea how hard this may be so im just throwing stuff out there. Also yeh I'd love to know the secret to get to the final boss.
I'll make you a demo in just a sec, shouldn't take long.
Ayvuir, Actually, the name being under the health bar would be the easiest solution after all. The problem with putting it under the face pictures is that those are all of 50 pixels wide, which would garble the hell out of the names. I'll change that after dinner.

Not too happy with how the video came out, but I was mildly rushed
Anyways, Caelus needs some explanation. He has a separate bar for his alcohol levels. The more he drinks the more lethal he is. His X and S attacks launch more attacks the more he's drank, but cost some of the gauge. His slashing attack has a whole pile of different targeting mechanics based on his alcohol levels. And his finisher does one of three effects based on the guage.
0-33%: Raises the gauge to full. This is what he used in the video, but I didn't notice while playing >_> 34-66%: Kicks the bottle straight forward. On hit, completely drains the energy of the enemy and makes them take double damage from the next atta- oh man I just realized it does wear off in the version I uploaded. FFFFF- 67-100%: Attacks two rows, then attacks another two rows coming back.
Also, I still need a song from you Caelus.
Forgot to mention, although he gets more powerful at higher alcohol levels, he takes more damage. When he's under half full he takes less and when over half he takes more. He's also immune to damage multiplying abilities of his enemies.

I'm uploading an emergency patch to change the bottlekick effect. It will still be semi-permanent (it's overridden by other multiplier changes), but now it only changes the multiplier to 1.2 times instead of 2 >_>

A powerful and intense track that I've been trying to get into those VG music contests for years now but it's obscure and unknown and never gets in. Hopefully it'll get exposure now and b8 will recognize it for its awesomeness O_O
(not sure if your game engine would change music quality at all or would slow down with higher-bit sound but if so let me know. I can pick something more suitable if there's any such issue)

I'll have to check, but for the most part it uses an external media player for songs. Also, I'm patching AGAIN because I made your slash attack do no damage to AI opponents >_>... So I'll patch your music in ASAP

Uploading now. My editor seems to be glitching out >_>... Also, I had to open the mp3 file with audacity and export it as a wav file to get the song to work for whatever reason, and it's still a tad quiet. I have no idea why it didn't just run the mp3 file.
Also, if someone could tell me if Caelus is too easy to beat of if I've just gotten too good at dodging that'd be great. Because I can beat the final boss every so often without getting damaged at all, so...

I've been tired as hell with school starting back up, so the only thing I did on this today is fixing something and adding names under the HP bars in the battle screens. If you'd like me to change it just send me a heads up, though I can't make it smaller due to how I handled things.

Unfortunately, the file seems to be completly broken on my computer. I think it will work on my brother's laptop, but I don't have access to that much >_>... So yeah, I'll try to borrow it and finish up Kyliea and the story mode for him and Caelus, but I don't think I'll be able to do much more unless I can straighten this out.

Augh. That was so annoying. Well, everything is up, and I'll I'll do with this current incarnation of the game is bug fix at this point. There's something wrong with the file, it freezes frequently, and it takes 10 to 15 seconds to save my work on it. Part of that is probably it ballooning up to almost 100MB, which isn't that much in this day and age, but feels absurd for something like this. I blame the music files I was using, there's got to be a better way of making the sound work. Anyways, I'll keep this topic alive for a few days more at the least, by posting a hidden code once a day. Though I only have three of those >_>

Secret of the day, when in the opponent select screen for a quickmatch type "CAPS" to face off against something you won't win against, but I find randomly amusing.
