I get more of a kick out of doing 200 mines than racing against the clock. But I'm an expert at Minesweeper.

In my defense, the very first time I beat the game was around the 280 mark, so I've progressed in skill quite a bit.

left-right on a satisfied number and it hits all the other connecting boxes. Just makes the process faster.

clears out all the squares you said are safe if you click on say a one when you've placed a flag next to it.

saves time clicking spaces where you know mines aren't

like, if you have a 1 and know where the mine around it is, left + right clicking on the 1 will reveal all the other spaces around it and perhaps more depending on the design of the level.

I've recently for the past couple of weeks been into playing Minesweeper when I have time to kill. I'm still not all that great, though I've already taught myself the "tap the number" trick to speed things up.

I've probably played just as many games on my phone, also having won once.

Meh, it's all about learning the patterns.

A 121 along a wall with no other connecting spaces means the two mines are across from the 1's. Similarly, a 212 along a wall with no other connecting spaces means one mine is across from the 1, which gives you the others as well. Useful stuff to just learn through repetition.
