The only Dragon Quest i've ever played was on the Playstation 2. I loved the game and the soundtrack and everything but I never finished the game. I am now the proud owner of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies and I have full intentions on playing the hell out of it.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
I don't mind if you guys recommend things but plase try to minimize any spoilers if you can.
So I collected a bunch of benevolence or something and offer it to yggdrasil. Yggy sprouts some fruit and everyones like "OOOOO FRUIT!" then a choo choo train showed up in the sky, landed and then exploded and I was shot to the planet and stripped of my halo and wings.
Amazingly everyone in town thinks that a random boy falling from the top of a waterfall is perfectly normal and I am welcomed into town. Eventually I was asked to help clear the path out of town because the "earthquake" caused a land slide and since i'm a minstrel i must have fighting skills (that made no sense what so ever). Then I was asked to rescue some chick, so I did and now I'm headed to a new town. Lvl 10 Putting all of my skill points in Sword Skills
A suggestion for you if you're planning on changing from Minstrel once you have the ability to: Unless you're planning on changing to a class that actually uses Swords, stop putting any points into it or any other skills and save them for when you change jobs so you'll have them in something you'll actually be using extensively.
It's okay, each class starts at level 1, so you can still gain all those skill points back. Plus if you really feel like grinding, you'll eventually be able to reincarnate anyway, so there's no shortage of skill points. You can also level up classes you have no intention of using to farm their skill points as well.
Hope you have better luck with this game than I did. I reached a boss late in the game who just destroyed me, no matter how much grinding I did and no matter what I put on my characters. I think I just invested my skill points poorly, but whatever.
well good to know I can reallocate skill points later on if need be.
I've got a full party of 4, I'm assuming that I wont have to worry about losing any of the other 3 since i chose them.
Female Mage: Rydia (my creation) Level 11 sporting a staff
Male Priest: Rory (premade) Level 11 sporting a Pole
Female Warrior: Pauline Level 12 sporing a Sword
and Me, Minstrel Chris Level 13 sporting a Sword as well.
I'll probably change Paulines weapon up since I haven't used any of her skill points yet. More than likely I'll just attempt to max out Chris's Sword Skill.
