The originals were not good. .Hack//GU, it's sequel, were a trilogy of really good action RPGs that everyone should play.

The original 4 were pretty lame from a gameplay perspective. Story was neat.

which is funny cause I looked a week ago and they weren't goin for much >_>

so I was planning on buying out the trilogy and reselling them for profits

but I was debating whether I should give them a whirl or not

The gameplay isn't great no, but the story is well worth it imo.

And G.U. as said is awesome all around.

GU is probably worth playing through the original 4, but it is definitely not needed to enjoy GU.

It's a really subtle and indirect but really WTF character revelation that you will almost certainly not realize because of how crazy small the hint is and we'll have to tell you after you beat it.

it seems that the first series isn't that pricey other than the 4th one, Quarantine, which sucks cause I've actually seen that game around for cheap before various times, like in Pawn shops and even here at the store...

dang, its going for 70 bucks too

I don't think it's THAT bad myself but it's a bit... well, repetitive <.<

I still think the story is very worth putting up with the mediocre gameplay though.

well I guess what I meant is what's different about the gameplay? if I remember correctly, the hack games were dungeon crawlers. how is GU different
