What with all of this talk of its sequel, I thought I might finish it, since I bought it months ago and never got past the first area... also I'm waiting for a PS1 memory card to arrive that I ordered from Ebay so I could play MGS1 and Xenogears, since I couldn't find a store that still carries PS1 equipment.

Anyway, any tips or things I should know? Any skills that are particularly important?

If you want to use them, they're important... but most people learn towards the melee.

PC version, correct? If you don't have GOTY ed, patch that thing up.

You might look into some of the mods, especially any that update the graphics

Hey all this is Bartz btw.

Pistols/rifles are useful. Don't invest in swimming or environmental hazards (or whatever it's called).

Also, you might want to not invest too heavily in heavy weapons, since from what I remember, the heavy weapons either suck or can be used just fine at lower training levels.

Also, this is seriously like the third time you've asked what skills are important.

training in melee weapons I find less useful as I only use them for back attacks (which are OHKOs no matter what your skill is).

Oh? I guess I could make this a playthrough topic, sure.

Took Rifle/Pistol/Computer/Lockpicking

Asked for the crossbow, ran around the Statue of Liberty, promised not to kill the terrorist leader, bought some darts from a homeless lady and a soldier. Eventually used the backdoor to get into the statue, but I've run into a problem. I can't get into Gunther's cell without the terrorists seeing me. I'm even able to literally open the door and turn off the camera, but I can't physically get into the cell to talk to him without a guard seeing me. Because the guard is on a chair, I can't sneak up behind him (the targetting system gets all wonky and will only let me attack the chair), and I can't take him out quickly enough if he sees me to avoid alerting the other guards, who immediately run through some lasers to trip an alarm and ruining my stealth. Don't know what to do right now, will continue tomorrow.

Also just use the 10mm pistol and dump EVERY WEAPON UPGRADE on that. Nobody wants the crappy assault rifle or shotgun.


And tranq dart a lot in the beginning to save up pistol ammo.

Really? Just the default pistol? Seems kind of... weird to do that. And blocking him as he leaves, I didn't think of that. I'm not sure it'll work properly, but I can give it a shot, I guess. If not, I'll try to make a distraction, but then I'm not sure I can sneak out of the cell without being seen.
