It's damn good. So far, it isn't as good as Deus Ex. But that has more to do with the quality of the original than the quality of the new one.

Fresh from my first justified ban. Ever!

I couldn't see myself liking the original, stealth is so annoying without cover systems.

I'm close to the finish I think, I'd rate it about an 8.9 right now (which would make it my #3 game of the year)

#1 flaw is the boss battles obviously. theres a couple minor annoyances, navigation in city hubs can be a little annoying, while I like the cover system for stealth, it's kind of awkward at times for shooting, just some little things here and there.

But man, stealth is a lot of fun, side quests are great, story is great, atmosphere is awesome, it's a really well built world. I love just reading e-books and e-mails sometimes, and I think the best part of the game might actually be the "conversation boss battles" which have all been A+.

haha

you get in some special conversations where you can see how well you are doing persuading someone. you get a description of their personality traits, and a meter that indicates where their statements are alpha, beta, or omega.

you use this to help decide what to say in your conversations in an attempt to convince them. they are really fun and well done. One of them is my top moment in the game so far.

So far? Probably a 9. Very good game. I'm shocked at how close it remains to the original Deus Ex. We need more games like this and less linear shooters.

I've never played the first two.

But I'm loving this one so far. Alot of fun. Pretty reminiscent of the older FPSers with the ability to just do what you want most of the time.

The hacking is kinda meh (I just capture and predict where the next spot is and hope for the best. Been opening some lvl 3 hack stations with some luck lol)

It's really good, my only problems with it are the hacking(FFFFFFFFFFFFRAGE!) and the over-emphasis on stealth. I like how someone in this topic was all "uh god i cant imagine stealth without a cover system" trust me, the original on that account was much easier(and maybe better) in that departement.


Though I have to say I'm quite happy with the story so far, the only boss I've fought so far wasn't too difficult, I like social battles(won both!) and yeah I just really like it in general, it's been great fun.


Oh but the inventory is also awful. Ammo in inventory, and grenades that don't stack? Augh! EDIT: Oh and the recharge system for augs is also whaaaat? A takedown consumes energy? I get it gameplay wise but REALISTICALLY it doesn't make sense. The takedowns are things Jack Bauer does five times in each episode of 24 but he doesn't have to recharge his battery for it!

I actually like the stealth better in HR than the first game.
