BFE is shaping up to be exactly the game Forever should have been. Better use of new ideas in a fundamentally retro framework. Better graphics. More manly.
The King is Dead. It's time to get Serious.
Also, the Serious Sam HD games are currently on sale on Steam. 66% off, or 85% off if you also pre-order BFE (which itself is 10% off)

"I'm Commander Shepard, and you're standing in the biggest library in Citadel Space. Look me up."
There shouldn't be sprinting in games like Duke and Serious Sam, you should be running crack fast at all times. Why modern developers don't seem to get this is beyond me.
I just recently played through the first Serious Sam with a friend. Great stuff. The game throws so many enemies at you that it almost becomes just wildly charging into battle and dying a lot, but it was still a blast.
I would like for people to find a good compromise between the old and the new FPSes. Like, I want my FPS play to be fast, but things like reloading are good in my opinion. I feel like only Valve strikes a good balance between action and strategy nowadays.
There'll always be room for stupid old-school FPSes though. They never really go out of style for me.
Serious Sam was all just about mowing asstons of things down. By god was it good that it did that. It's hilarious running and mowing down a horde of those suicide bomber headless guys.

Nice catch BlAcK TuRtLe. But too bad your ass got SAAAAAAAAAAACKED.*tackles*
I also love the interior areas of Serious Sam. Like inside the pyramids, with its dark corridors and death trap rooms. It's like a crack-infused version of DOOM, and its a blast playing with friends online.

It will launch for $350 with some Wii Sports s***. I bet my life on it. Damn, that KoolAid guy is awesome - NGamer64
Also yeah, sprint button in Serious Sam? What the hell, no. That's an "innovation" that should be left out.
I find variable running speeds to be rather cumbersome in FPSes. 99% of the time I want to be running as fast as possible. If not, I'd actually rather have a "slow your dumb ass down" button rather than a "sprint" button.
