I almost finished a second playthough, this time only using the named characters. I realized that Orlandu truly is broken and has no equal. Also, dat Beowulf. And Reis.

My five characters are:

Ramza
Orlandu
Mustadio
Beowulf
Reis

All are around level 70, except Mustadio. who is like 45. Right now I'm on my way to Limberry.

I used calculator and that class is slow! Why so slow? Level 78 Ramza has 5 speed??

Yeah, Calculators are horrible on their own. The brokeness comes from getting Math Skill off of them, then giving that to a real class, like Wizards

Well, I'd argue that Calcs are a top tier class even with their half-speed. Just gotta use status magic rather than pure nuking since they have crappy MA.

I'd also argue that Summon Magic > All Swordskill, but both are pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, there is no longer a challenge, although the fight at Nelveska is still kinda tough because I am trying to get the move-find items. Are there any status that can be used on worker 8 so that he doesn't bother me while I grab them?

Just got back to this topic. Very happy to see it ranks so highly with you. Amazing game from start to finish... although I can agree with you on the whole "dark forces" thing. What made me love the game so much was how mature it's storyline was.

Yeah, the story was great, and really made me think and care about Ramza, but I think I enjoy the gameplay more. There is more customization than any other FF I have played... it's really nice.

Its story and its gameplay are both the best in the series but I still prefer VII's atmosphere and themes. So basically those two are head-to-head for me at all times.

I imagine you're past this point now, but no, not really. He is vulnerable to confuse, but (a) it's difficult to inflict on him since he is immune to magic [a Mindflare would be your best bet], and (b) confuse isn't a great status anyway since he'll probably still try to kill you, just less intelligently.

Nothing's immune to stat breaks, though, so using Battle Skill (with a ranged weapon preferably) or Dance to lower his PA and speed is an option.


(Also I'm pretty definitely on the FFT side of this debate. I do prefer FF7's story somewhat but the gameplay is such a non-contest.)

Genji armor I'm pretty sure is on Elmdor in Limberry. I didn't steal it my first playthrough but I will be doing it this time once I get there.
