From: MarvelousGerbil | #079 If you're drinking before you buy it, you're not a customer yet. You're not a customer until the transaction is complete so you're always wrong while you're hanging out in the cereal aisle.
If hanging out in the cereal aisle is wrong, then maybe I don't want to be right.

OctilIery posted... Sets a bad precedent for the workplace, etc etc. But no, not generally if they're in the checkstand. People that take food and eat it intending to pay at the end of their shift, however, tend to get hit hard.
That's much less obvious though and presents a whole additional set of problems. If I open a soda at the beginning of my 8 hour shift, the bottle is much less likely to be around at the end whether I mean to or not. You also should be working, not eating. It also contaminates the work place. I don't want the guy in the deli touching my cheese if he just ate something. It's like he's putting his whole mouth on my cheese.
You saw this all the time at Arbys. Had my assistant manager make himself a sandwich on the backline, and not pay for it until he came up front hours later.

That's also a manager, someone who is less likely to actually steal from the company or handle the actual food.

While not related to anything you would personally know, this just made me crack up XD
And Dave, I made several valid points before the topic went veering in a whole different direction. I showed how it makes you a rude, pain in the ass customer. That hasn't, and won't, change.

Except it doesn't. Someone, might have been you (not going back to check) said they didn't like the soda people because they throw away the cap. If I'm considerate enough to keep the cap, tighten it before giving it to you, and not make a mess of your workplace, this does not in any way inconvenience you.
I... still don't see how drinking half a Gatorade before paying for it equates to being a "pain in the ass" customer unless you're dumb and throw away the cap, which Not Dave has not claimed to have done, which doesn't make him among the percentage of customers you're ranting about, which doesn't really make him a pain in the ass unless you just have OCD about opened products. Do you?
