in terms of killer songs (aka Power, Monster, Runaway, All of the Lights, Dark Fantasy and GORGEOUS).. well this lacks it a bit but I'd still say it's pretty great. At least it's got no F***IN RIDIKLIS... Maybe that's a bad thing!

Frank Ocean is from odd future, he's about to blow up into the mainstream.

Swizz beats is a horrible producer/rapper but I don't mind his beats on this record.

That song is way too busy for its own good imo, but to each his own of course!

I didn't even particularly like the original song it was sampled from so yeah. (though I'm a big Bon Iver fan)

MBDTF loses steam considerably in its second half, but it's a sequencing thing for me more than a content thing.

Related: I feel like That's My B**** fits the soundscape of MBDTF better than both Monster and So Appalled, and by a large margin. Lyrically it doesn't fit (but neither do those two, really), but the sound of it would really sit well in the midsection of MBDTF

the only song that drags down MBDTF is So Appalled. some people have issues with the skit too, but I love it. the girl's monotonous delivery and Rock's enthusiastic voice fit perfectly. Dark Fantasy flows so well.

Chain Heavy should follow Monster, though.

also, I knew giggs wouldn't dig this album!

this is nowhere near as good as MBDTF. but it's still solid with some good lines and obviously fantastic production. i'm glad Jay-Z did this - it's really the first time I've remembered that he exists in 3-4 years.

Finished the album.

Overall, it was good. Better than I expected, but most certainly nothing that compares to the best work of either artist.

I compare it to the Blueprint 3 (but better)-- as an album it doesn't really work well, but there are some outstanding tracks shoved in there that will make for great radio hits. The fatal flaw is the lack of artistic direction that we are used to from Kanye projects, and the lack of control we are used to from Jay's.

Can't complain though, I'll probably be listening to it for the next few weeks!

gotta have it is one of the worst song on the albums. new day is really good, though. kanye's first verse is excellent. only complaint is what rza did with nina simone's voice. you don't change her pitch!
