Say a couple gets married and the guy is soooo forward thinking that he takes the wife's name into his, and their kids also have both names. They think they're being so wonderful at the time, but what about when they grow up?
Let's just be general and say the name becomes Smith-Murrin. So the daughter pops out and they name her Britney Smith-Murrin. She grows up and meets a guy named Joe Jonas. He is also very open minded so he does take her name and become Joe Jonas-Smith-Murrin, and fate their kids to take this name as well?
I just wonder. I know that there are kids legally given the hyphenated name these days. I'm very curious as to what they do when reaching adulthood.
I hate people with hyphenated surnames. When I ask for their name over the phone, I always just take the last word as their surname and call them that. Then when I load up the details and see it's a hyphenated name, I feel like a moron.
Also, in a reverse, I had an Indian woman give me her name and it was Sophie then some multi-syllable word. I asked if it was alright if I called her Sophie, which was fine, then when I loaded up her details, I realised she had given me two middle names and her surname was like Malik or something. Mrs Malik is easy!

I would hope that somewhere along the line, someone would have the intelligence to think "this is too many god damn last names, I'm changing it to one and I will not let my daughter start this s*** again."

Usually, they'll just hyphenate their grandparent's names instead. Of course, this will eventually lead to the same problem again, but right now it's not that common.
