I wouldn't subscribe if I already didn't have semi-decent stats and the ability to have fun and not grind all the time. Most people who laugh at subscribing to Runescape tend to have not played the minigames or at least haven't had some fun with them.

I played Runescape like.. 10 years ago. You are the first person I have ever heard talk about playing it since. Ever.

At least half its playbase quit the second the "Paid" version came out since everyone knew the free one was basically doomed.

Only other MMO I've ever found that runs well on dialup and was still good was Dofus.
