Just trying to figure it out. Like I know it was cool to watch The Real World and Road Rules back when we were in high school, but why has Jersey Shore captivated the nation so much?

Honestly it's like a car wreck. A big, greasy, musclebound, diseased, barely literate car wreck. I like watching the show a lot, but in a freak show kind of way. I don't relate to their lifestyle in the least, so the shows make me feel really good about myself.

This is how most people I know that watch that show rationalize it.

Jersey Shore definitely isn't "well liked." It's obviously been a successful show, but it also attracts more venom than anything else on TV.

It's kind of like the television equivalent of Justin Bieber, y'know? Popular doesn't necessarily mean well liked.

Some of my friends like it.

They say its bad funny.

I have no idea, never seen it.

I watched a few seasons of real world/road rules challenge in college, but since then I don't think I've ever watched anything on MTV (only possible exception would be replays of old beavis and butthead episodes)

What the hell does Michael Vick have to do with this? As far as I know he was dynamite last season.

Are people's lives that bad where they need to watch Guidos to feel better about themselves? The best thing that came out of Jersey Shore is either fist-pumping or "come at me bro."

Now this is entertainment!

I watched a couple episodes of it.

Watching most of the cast be stupid was moderately entertaining but the Ronnie and Sammie relationship problems completely destroyed any interest. So irritating seeing two people who should obviously not be together constantly fight about the same issues, it's just not entertaining in the least.

guidos have been around for a LONG time and well established before jersey anything was on tv.
we even had wrestlers in the 90s that ran this as their 'gimmick' of a well established archtype of people in real life.

I just went to facebook, and the first status I see is JERSEY SHORE <3, by a family member of sorts, he's 15.

I did find it funny, considering I just said in the beginning of this topic I've never seen anyone post about it on my facebook, and then BAM, it's right there. But I'm also pissed.
