To be fair, I have always recognized August 1st as the start of the Halloween season.

But at this stage it's about ghost stories and scary movies, not CANDY.

Also to me, Halloween itself is dated too late. If I got to choose, it'd be about two weeks earlier. Too often October 31st has an "early winter" feel moreso than the autumn feel that Halloween demands. At least in the Northeast it does.

Eh, as much as I despise the commercialism... at least it's a holiday I genuinely enjoy. And one that too often does not get enough time as too often, even before the holiday's even happened, all of the Halloween merchandise is replaced with Christmas s***.

Halloween is the greatest holiday that there is and since, as I recognize it, it lasts for a full quarter of the year, "season" is exactly the right word.
