My favorite pizza place was a local joint near where I grew up. They closed down a few years ago when the owners retired. Haven't found anywhere comparable since, and I've given up hope that I ever will.

Oh actually one that might have been better was Uno's Jambalaya Pizza. The first time I got it I'm not sure what they did, maybe they went extra-heavy on the cajun sauce they used but it was the best THING I've ever eaten. I don't know if it was really the best PIZZA I've ever eaten though, since despite being a form of pizza, it was very un-pizza-like. Subsequent times I've gotten it haven't been nearly as satisfying, despite still being very good. And it was a limited-time item that they aren't currently offering.

It might honestly be Costco's. I love Costco pizza as I do their entire food court selection; it's awesome.

Authentic Chicago deep dish even though I'm from New York City. After that? A bunch of places in NY. After that? A very NY-savvy joint nearby called Little Italy. After that? Another very NY-savvy joint nearby called Godfather's. After that? I don't know, Little Caesar's?

Local pizzerias tend to be the best, by far. You're best to just go around where you live and try them all.

Since I grew up in NY, I can't really say some local place since they were virtually everywhere and i rarely had teh luxury of sticking to just one. I've probably eaten at over 100 different independent Pizzerias. Like I'd give names, but it gets hard to remember which Italian name was with which place >.<

Oh but I have eaten at Pizzeria Bianco's once when I was in Arizona visiting someone with my family. It was pretty amazing if I recall correctly, I'm not sure if it was worth the wait, but man was it good.

strangely, was at 5AM at JFK i think. and i've had plenty of good pizza living in NYC, including some highly rated restaurants that JUST do pizza. that one just was the best i've had ever. if something ever tops it, i'll know.

Probably the `donair pizza` from the place a couple blocks from here, but they have new ownership, and now it`s all indian food and really crappy pizza. So I guess I`ll never have it again. :(

well the first rule of pizza is that if you're gonna have it, make sure it's actually a proper size and none of these mini pizzas some places do like dominos and papa johns. starts at 16 inches for a minimum, 18 preferred, and 20 is fantastic.

There was a place near me called Margherita's too, it was pretty good. Also, another place called Tonys, which was not that great, but now in retrospec after suffering through like Pizza Hut and Little Caesars I would kill for Tonys.

Oh there was also a place called Mario's too, I mean it was kind of average really, but it also sold Hawiian pizza which was a plus.

Also, now that I think of it, Garlic Knots, I miss those.

Pat's Pizza. It's a Maine chain but there's a location in Zephyr Hills, Florida, which is where the owners have moved to retire.

But if you're in one of the 48 other states you're flat out of luck.

I went to a place right outside Chicago called "Infusino's." Mind-blowing pizza and excellent gelato - what more could you ask for?

I think the best chain is Little Caesar's, though. I'm also really fond of Sbarro, Papa John's and Papa Murphy's.

Depends on where you live. But what you need to get your hands on immediately is:

1) Chicago deep dish
2) NY style

Do this immediately. Chicago/New York know how to do pizza.

Hey all this is Bartz btw.

If you're anywhere around or in St. Louis, then Imo's Pizza is the best. I would eat that pizza every day, it's soooooo f***ing good. It's thin crust cut into squares, and they like have something I don't know what, but my god I want some right now god damn it.

I only know of two people on this board that would understand, AKJ, and maybe Kuge, since we made him have some Imo's when he visited us.
